Claims don't count when evasiveness is involved Wink

Must get up very early.

More like having a "discussion" with Advocate.

I think you're a man. Just the way you word things is what makes me think this, but I could have gone either way.

@Intrepid,
Yes to degree level: however I switched to pure mathematics. I am in Britain which has different time zone to America. i am also interested why American people consider this attention seeking: I can think of no other way of running this experiment. To tell the truth I'm really upset by the accusation. It is so negative and critical.

@Montana,
At least you waited for some evidence before making a guess,which is to your credit.

@George,
OK George: I am guessing you consider me to be very anti American. Personally I started this to be thought provoking and entertaining: there is a parody of this site which is intended to be humiliating, and is in no way promoting anything positive: I consider all the posters on it as pathetic bullies and as such having inadequate personalities.
All the posters on it would rather bully than debate. They are all American. I genuinely feel sorry for all of them.

@Intrepid,
I am in way trying to make my answers evasive.

@Francis,
Just: this discussion was intended to be thought provoking and entertaining: I wanted to get away from the abuse of some of the other sites. I wanted people to know they could post here safely and without fear of ridicule.
Setanta has started an abuse posting; for those who want to ridicule and demean. I find it disappointing that anyone would consider that amusing. i feel anyone who posts on there is not hurting me but themselves.
Which part don't you understand? For someone who made such a subtle joke on the word hysterical, your command of Englsih has deserted you.

@Fountofwisdom,
The all American part..

But you are right, when it comes to English language, I'm subject to immeasurable gaps and the ungraspable nature of human beings..

Exactly what I was thinking. Variant or deviant?

Neither.

First of all if what s/he says is true about her IQ - she has about ten or fifteen points on me (allowing for standard deviation).
And, secondly - I LOVE AMERICANS! All of my family and most of my best, longest lifelong friends are American - and , I'll have you know - very intelligent.

Fount - I think you're a guy (and that's how you can tell I'm a girl - because I said 'guy').
I read on boomerang's thread about first dates with people who are now spouses that you asked 'her' (your spouse) if 'she' liked Jimmi Hendrix ....and so on. I don't have time to find it because I have to get to work right now - but I'm sure it's in the archives.
Of course you could be a female and in a same sex relationship.
But I don't think that's true.

When you began on the forum, you began expressing yourself very clearly and succinctly without a lot of excess- like a guy. Some women here do that - Foxfyre is one I enjoy reading for that very reason (even if I don't always agree with what she ends up concluding- but that's fine). I do enjoy reading what she thinks because she writes like that. I wouldn't have known she was a woman unless I read something about her life somewhere that clued me in.
So I get what you're saying about writing styles.
Yours has changed though- I have no idea why - but for some reason you're less interesting than you used to be...sorry- don't want to be insulting- but there it is.
You used to comment on a lot of subjects - now you're just sort of one note.

But I think you should join Mensa and maybe go to NY and meet with David. He's a very interesting guy - and I think you guys would like talking with each other about government, etc.
(That's another reason why you couldn't be a variant or deviant of me Fount. You know much more about government than I do. David and I talked mostly about more metaphysical and amorphously creative ideas- when we talked about government, he was more in a teaching mode - he'd be a very good teacher by the way - I've already told him that).

@aidan,
Shapeless is another poster who's gender I was never certain of.
Thought guy first - then s/he posted a thread about handbags, so thought, 'girl', then on the handbag thread talked about a wife, so I thought 'guy' again.

Doesn't matter a whit to me - I loved reading anything Shapeless posted. Always really interesting threads, information articulated very well and a very good communicator. I learned so much about music and grammar from Shapeless. Wish s/he posted more. I do miss reading Shapeless' posts.

@aidan,
Confused well, aidan, you have claimed to be both a man and a woman on this forum at different times - you are a prime example of why this 'game' is senseless. you can be anything online. ultimately, what matters is what you write.

@aidan,
Here's another experiment we could do though- let's see if we can carry the animosity right on throughout this new year. See just how long we could make it last - maybe even forever.
Oh wait - we already know humans are capable of that right?
Or at least you do Dag- for sure - especially in your line of work, right?

@aidan,
animosity? i don't feel any towards you or fow. just reflecting that with you for example it is impossible to know by now whether you are male or female - and it doesn't matter. neither it matters for fow. he or she can claim to be either and we'll never know the true person anyway. so, ultimately all that matters in an online world are ideas. howgh. why read into it?

But it doesn't affect memory..

@dagmaraka,
Well, given that I've posted pictures of myself and my two children, one of whom I gave birth to) and have met Joe Nation, Miklos, and David in person and spoken to Mathos on the phone - I think you can pretty easily verify my gender if you still have any question.

The truth does matter to me. I told one lie on this forum and I apologized for it three and a half years ago. I'm tired of having that thrown up as if it's been my only post. It hasn't.

@aidan,
Actually teaching isn't about telling people answers. Its about getting people to find them for themselves. I think I get frustated by a lot of the debate and the abuse. I tend to reply in kind which is wrong of me.
