Sozobe -- no two spaces after a period any more, thanks, unless you're using a monospace font like Courier (looks like a typewriter). The reason for it in the first place was that the typewriter font didn't always show enough space to indicate the end of the sentence. New fonts automatically add a little space on the right side of the period so the sentence ends and beginnings are clear. So, one space only after any punctuation.

That is NOT true. It does not say that it can't it just isn't one of the definitions. Every GRAMMER BOOK I've read which are made by professionals says that it IS.
