a) the 'Times of Israel' is an online newspaper - your quote hasn't been published there,

b) 'The Times of Israel' hosts an open blog platform for any writer who applies to become a blogger on the site. That's were your "source" was published online.

Perhaps you are not aware of how blogs exaggerate and make "accidental errors" in their reporting?

In other words, based on this account, this was not a simple case of palestinians protecting an Israeli policewoman from rock-​​throwing “settlers” as those disseminating the photo have claimed. For a start, the rocks were being thrown by palestinians. Furthermore, it seems the two palestinians starting escorting the policewoman after they felt they were about to be shot.
In other words, it sounds like this was not as much an altruistic gesture as one of self-​​preservation.
Is it possible the palestinians would have protected the policewoman even if they didn’t feel they were in danger from the soldiers? I honestly do not know. What I do know is this photo is not showing exactly what many are claiming it shows.

Israel's Supreme Court is suspending the detention of a Palestinian hunger striker who has suffered brain damage after 65 days without food.

Mohammed Allan, a lawyer and member of the militant group Islamic Jihad, began refusing food in June in protest at his indefinite administrative detention.

Israel had offered to release him in early November in return for him ending his hunger strike.

Doctors say Mr Allan is in a serious condition in hospital in Ashkelon.

"Due to the petitioner's medical condition he will remain in intensive care," the court ruling said.




"This means that for now, owing to the hunger striker's medical condition, the administrative detention order is no longer operative."

Mr Allan began the hunger strike on 16 June in protest against his incarceration since November 2014 under what Israel calls administrative detention.

The system allows a military court to order suspects to be detained indefinitely, subject to renewal every six months by the court, without charge or trial.

He lost consciousness and was placed on a respirator on Friday after his lungs stopped working and he had seizures. He was also given salts and minerals intravenously.

There are fears that violence in the Israeli-occupied West Bank might escalate if Mr Allan dies.
