Can you look at this map and say Israel does not systemically appropriate land?

The human cost of what is taking place was all too evident today: 17 graves at a cemetery in Tuffah, for dead ranging in age from 18 months to 60 years. They were all from one family, that of Taysir al-Batsh, the police chief, who was the intended target; he is expected to recover after surgery. Another family, the Zaurabs, were burying five of their own at Rafah. Fifty-four were killed in the course of the day, the total at the end, numbered 168, with 1,120 injured, according to Palestinian medical officials. The United Nations say that 77 per cent of those killed were civilians.

@InfraBlue,
Quote:

It isn't only about a Palestinian state, however. The Palestinians' Right of Return as afforded by numerous international resolutions has been steadfastly violated by the Zionists so that they may maintain their ethnocentric state "for the Jews." The two state solution legitimizes the ethnocentrism and necessary discrimination and oppression of that state.

Israel, in many ways, is a made product of the US. Before the fall of the Soviet Union, Israel served as a barrier against soviet clients in the area. The US supplied Israel with the military edge over all she surveyed, turned a blind eye to the many crimes perpetrated against the Palestinians and is still doing so as we speak. The US created in Israel a superpower among all in her neighborhood. No American president will dare speak out against Israel (with the exception of the former president Jimmy Carter) because the US congress would rather sacrifice their mothers before uttering a criticism against the Zionist criminal nation. (Look at the current NJ gov, CC, who today blamed President Obama for the crisis, a conflict which has been going on since Israel has been in existence and will continue until the Zionist nation changes.)

"Voting by an overwhelming majority — 138 in favour to 9 against (Canada, Czech Republic, Israel, Marshall Islands, Micronesia (Federated States of), Nauru, Panama, Palau, United States), with 41 abstentions — the General Assembly today accorded Palestine non-Member Observer State status in the United Nations.

“The moment has arrived for the world to say clearly: enough of aggression, settlements and occupation,” said Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, as he called on the 193-member body to “issue a birth certificate of the reality of the State of Palestine”. Indeed, following Israel’s latest aggression against the Gaza Strip, the international community now faced “the last chance” to save the long elusive two-State solution, he said, adding: “the window of opportunity is narrowing and time is quickly running out.”

"Palestinians came before the General Assembly because it believed in peace, and because its people were in desperate need of it, he said, speaking ahead of the vote. Its endeavour to seek a change in status at the United Nations did not aim to terminate what remained of the long stagnant peace negotiations; instead, he said, it was aimed at trying to “breathe new life” into the process. Support for the resolution would also send a promising message to millions of Palestinians “that justice is possible and that there is a reason to be hopeful”, he stressed."

General Assembly
GA/11317
__

The US and Israel were intensely against the Palestinians going before the General Assembly, but the Palestinians did not listen and went anyway. When the Palestinians asked the Zionist nation to stop building settlements in the West Bank to prove it was really for the two-state solution, Kerry said the Israelis did not have to stop building settlements because that could be settled during the final round of peace talks!

Only the US has the power to reign Israel in (at this time) but is unwilling to do so because of politics, money contributed to both parties, GOP and DEM alike by AIPAC and other Jewish interest groups.

The global movement Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS ), against Israel, will be spurred even more by this latest venture against the Palestinians and will not end until Israel complies with international law and Palestinian rights. Israel, btw, is beginning to feel the effects of this movement, but it has a long way to go yet. It brought down South Africa, and it surely will bring about change in Israel....just give it time......

Our efforts so are relatively small but these are baby steps in comparison to the Internationl community.

"Academic boycotts of Israel

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Proposals for academic boycotts of Israel have been made by academics and organizations in Palestine,[1] the United States,[2] the United Kingdom,[3] and other countries to boycott Israeli universities and academics. The goal of proposed academic boycotts is to isolate Israel in order to force a change in Israel's policies towards the Palestinians which proponents state to be discriminatory and oppressive, including oppressive to the academic freedom of Palestinians.[4]

"The ultimate goals and the mission of the academic boycott align with those of the greater BDS movement, calling for international pressure to be placed on Israeli academic institutions, which are understood by PACBI to be implicated in the perpetuation of Israeli occupation, in order to achieve those goals.[5][6]

"The proposals have been opposed by many scholars and politicians, who describe the campaign as "profoundly unjust" and relying on what they consider to be a "false" apartheid analogy with South Africa. Opponents state that the boycotters apply "different standards" to Israel than other countries, that the boycott is "counterproductive and retrograde" and that the campaign is antisemitic and comparable to Nazi boycotts of Jewish shops in the 1930s.[7][8][9][10][11][12] Despite these oppositions, academic boycott initiatives have been undertaken, with limited success outside the Middle East.[13][14][15][16]"

Rain of Fire
Israel’s Unlawful Use of White Phosphorus in Gaza
MARCH 25, 2009
This 71-page report provides witness accounts of the devastating effects that white phosphorus munitions had on civilians and civilian property in Gaza. Human Rights Watch researchers in Gaza immediately after hostilities ended found spent shells, canister liners, and dozens of burnt felt wedges containing white phosphorus on city streets, apartment roofs, residential courtyards, and at a United Nations school. The report also presents ballistics evidence, photographs, and satellite imagery, as well as documents from the Israeli military and government.

@JTT,
I well recall Israel's use of white Phosphorus in Lebanon. That was one of the exceptions when the US government via Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of State at the time, spoke out. She demanded Israel not use white phosphorus on the people. Israel swore up and down it had not used such but the people brought to the hospitals carried all the signs of flesh burning caused by this chemical weapon.

Awfully hypocritical of Rice when the USA used it to commit more war crimes in Iraq.

The number terrorist group in the world, the USA, leading the number two terrorist group in the world, Israel. Not what the poor of the world like to see.

As long as Israel can rely on America's veto in the UN Security Council it will continue its policy of collective punishment on the entire civilian population, Hamas or no Hamas, rockets or no rockets.

There will be no consequences. Anti-Semites might be able to gang up on innocent people in dark alleyways, but they will never again be allowed to harm Jews on a global scale.

That's because most American voters find anti-Semitism repugnant.

That was the unilateral act that torpedoed the Oslo Accords and erased any possibility of the Palestinians ever receiving a state based on 1967 borders.

Well, yes. The US felt that "destroying the Oslo Accords and erasing any possibility that the Palestinians would ever achieve a state based on 1967 borders" was a big step backwards.

Kerry was quite right. A halt to settlement construction is something to be traded for at the negotiation table (perhaps in exchange for the Palestinians ending their hate sermons).

It is also noteworthy that, early in his first term, Obama convinced Israel to halt settlement construction for 10 months. The Palestinians still refused to come and negotiate.

There is the small fact that Israel is doing nothing wrong and is not in any need of being reined in.

Luckily such anti-Semites are only on the fringes of society.

Assuming Rice actually said it, and it's not just some goofy urban legend that got started somehow.

WP is also completely legal when the US uses it.
