Very good research, not there yet.

You have one film which if you pursue it will help you, go with Birdcage and Gene Hackman, then look for the link with the other three and am sure you will get there.

Ok, Hackman's a Senator. He's conservative. He disapproves of his daughter's engagement. He cross-dresses. Can you think of any other possible "themes" to work with, Raggedy?

OK, look at birdcage, what were its origins ? Was there a version made before ?

Then look at the other 3 films associated with the other 3 actors then think-link !

Remakes from the French:

Richard Gere - Breathless from À bout de souffle

Lauren Hutton - My Father, the Hero from Mon père ce héros

Keanu Reeves - Dangerous Liaisons from Les Liaisons Dangereuse (though this was a play, so maybe you were thinking of something else?)

Gene Hackman - The Birdcage from La Cage aux Folles

That has to be it, mac. I'm thinking maybe A Walk in the Clouds and a French movie called Sous le ciel de Provence is the answer for Keanu Reeves. And for Gere, you could also include Unfaithful, which was a remake of La Femme Infidele.

Yes, it was that last obvious clue that gave it away! Thanks!

I thought that A Walk in the Clouds was a remake of an Italian film - apparently the French film that bree mentioned came in between.

Whoops, sorry, I forgot to say! No, not a word in the title - it's about roles that they've played.

Nope, not looking for doctors. There's another occupation they've all played. (And btw, hiama, we do stick only to theatrically-released movies, as opposed to TV movies.)

Great job on Hiama's question, Mac.

Would you be looking for a Butler?

Anthony Hopkins - Remains of the Day
Alan Bates - Gosford Park
Tim Curry - Clue

and a big guess, here, for Jonathan Hyde - The Tailor of Panama (I didn't see that one, but I know you did. Laughing )

Yes to butlers.

Jonathan Hyde was the butler in Richie Rich. Want to have another go at David Niven?

Jonathan Hyde- Herbert A.R. Cadbury, the Rich's butler
David Niven-Godrey Smith in My Man Godfrey

Yes, and Niven also played the butler-of-all-trades in Candleshoe.

Embarrassed I forgot to add David Niven, but I knew that one. So who gets to ask next, Mac?
