Aah, I just saw your hint, but I think I got it before your hint. (I hope.) Town is the word.
Lee J. Cobb - Lawman - Town Boss
Ward Bond - Frontier Marshall - Town Marshall
Rachel Roberts - Wild Rovers - Maybel Town Madame
Barry Fitzgerald - The Quiet Man - Town matchmaker, bookmaker

That was a good question, Hiama. This is not a tie-in to the above, but it is a double tie-in. A word in title and occupation. (1947-1979)
Barry Fitzgerald
Michael Rennie
Robert Mitchum
Rachel Roberts

There are four movies which share a word in their titles and in which these four actors share an occupation? Any chance those dates are wrong? (I'm having a little trouble, can you tell? )

Good Grief! How often will that happen? I just checked the dates and they are correct. You mean that Rachel Roberts had the same occupation as the other actors in movies with a common word in the title? Weird! You've done enough work. Start with Rachel Roberts - 1979)

Am I just dumb today? (Definitely sleep-deprived.) Am I looking for a word in the title or an occupation or some of each? Your question lists both.

All the actors had the same occupation in a movie that also had a common word in the title. You're not dumb. I'm just not good at wording things clearly. As a matter of fact, I'm not too sure that it's clear now. (lol)
Example: Louis Hayward - swordsman - Man in the Iron Mask Antonio Banderas - swordsman - Mask of Zorro
etc.
I'm not looking for a swordsman, though.

Barry Fitzgerald - Welcome Stranger - Dr. Joseph McRory
Michael Rennie - Phone Call from a Stranger - Dr. Fortness
Robert Mitchum - Not as a Stranger - Dr. Lucas Marsh
Rachel Roberts - When a Stranger Calls - Dr. Monk
I had only seen Yanks for Rachel Roberts - didn't see the listing above it. Like I said, I'm dumb today!

On the assumption that the above answer was correct, here's the next round:
Same two words in each movie title (1988-2002):
Ally Sheedy
Robert Sean Leonard
Dermot Mulroney
Mia Kirshner

Of course, you're right. I got the idea for my question from Hiama's. I noticed that both Rachel Roberts and Barry Fitzgerald played doctors in movies with "stranger". Now, do you mean your question concerns both an occupation and a word?
