Where is the best place to spend New Year’s Eve?

If you could spend New Year’s Eve with any 10 people currently living, or already dead, whom would you select?

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
for me , the best place to spend new year's eve is at home with mrs. h .
i'll put on a guy lombardo record :

Quote:
Enjoy Yourself ! It's later than you think.

Please find the lyrics below.

You work and work for years and years, you're always on the go
You never take a minute off, too busy makin' dough
Someday, you say, you'll go fulltime (*have your fun) when you're a millionaire
Imagine all the fun you'll have in your old rockin' chair

Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think!
Enjoy yourself. While you're still in the pink!
The years go by, As quickly as a wink.
Enjoy yourself. Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think.

You're gonna take that RV (*ocean) trip, no matter, come what may
You've got your reservations made, but you just can't get away
Next year, for sure, you'll go fulltime (*see the world), you'll really get around
But how far can you travel when you're six-feet under ground?

Your heart of hearts, your dream of dreams, your ravishing brunet
She's left you and she's now become somebody else's pet.
Lay down that gun don't try my friend to reach the great beyond
You'll have more fun by camping with (*reaching for) a redhead or a blond.

Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think!
Enjoy yourself. While you're still in the pink!
The years go by, As quickly as a wink.
Enjoy yourself. Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think.

You never go to campgrounds (*nightclubs) and you just don't care to hike (*dance).
You don't have time for silly things like campfires (*moonlight) and a bike (*romance).
You only think of dollar bills tied neatly in a stack
But when you kiss a dollar bill it doesn't kiss you back.

Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think!
Enjoy yourself. While you're still in the pink!
The years go by, As quickly as a wink.
Enjoy yourself. Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think.

E.H. Morris & Co./Magidson Music Co. Inc. (ASCAP) Herb Magidson born, 7 January 1906, Braddock, Pennsylvania, USA, died, 5 January 1986, Beverly Hills, California, USA. A leading composer and lyricist in the '30s and '40s, particularly remembered for The Continental, which he wrote the lyric to Con Conrad's tune for the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers picture The Gay Divorcée. It became the first winner of the Best Song Academy Award in 1934. 1950 "Enjoy Yourself. It's Later Than You Think"

*actual words to song

we'll just enjoy ourselves .
we'll make sure that at midnight the frontdoor is open "to let the New Year in" .

on new year's day we'll go out for brunch with some friends .
i've made reservations at a restaurant that overlooks the kingston harbour and lake ontario .
perhaps we'll plan a vacation for 2009 . we'll just take it easy and "let the good times roll" as long as they last .
wishing you all the best for 2009 !hbg

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
If I had my druthers, I'd be on the Staten Island Ferry going back and forth and back and forth. Having chai with brandy from a thermos and a giant tub of mixed caramel corn and cheese corn. My proposed guests would probably want something more substantial, but that'd have to be on their wish list.

Who? hmmmm I'd like the hamburgers to be there and Set and the Empress. That's 4. To round it out (all expenses are covered, right?), I'd bring over dlowan, margo and msOlga. The final 3? frankapisa has to be one of them (he'd crash it in any case), BoGoWo (there are sparks wherever he is) and georgeob.

It'd be the best debating ever.

@djjd62,
I figured that my invite list would get me extra guests without having to cheat on my original list Mr. Green

Yikes.

Thanks, Bethie...I'm on my way, too!

NYE on Sydney Harbour is pretty spectacular too. 2 lots of fireworks, 9.30pm for the kids and the big one at midnight. Food, music, dancing, light shows, etc.

I'm currently in Kiama, a seaside village and fishing port about 2 hours south of Sydney. We'll amble down to see the fireworks over Kiama Harbour (not sure what time) and that's about the length of it.

Happy New Year, all!

we don't need the staten island ferry .
the wolfe islander III ferry leaves hourly to cross lake ontario to wolfe island -
and it's FREE - you can even take your car along for free or park it at the dock .
it's particularly nice in the winter when the ferry crashes through the ice - a "bubble system" keeps the channel from freezing over - still , the ferry has to push the ice out of the way .

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
For years now, my idea of the best place has been my own place, or our own place. Comfort, good food, friends and neighbors, no driving with the crazies.

Worst new years? The date which included a fraternity party followed by the Rose Bowl parade and game (where the guys wouldn't talk to me, assuming I had no clue about football, heh - based on this year's efforts on a2k football threads, they might have been right while boorish), all this with no sleep since the night of the 30th and none until the night of the 1st. Every year past that has been a pleasure in some way.
