I think I killed my neighbor....

Yesterday a neighbor that I don't really know came to my rescue, digging me out of a snow slush rut. He keeps to himself. I don't even know who else lives there but I know that someone does.

Today I bought him some flowers while I was at the store, intending to take them over today.

When I got home from the store there was a fire truck and an ambulance in front of his house! They left without their sirens going. Sad

He was out shoveling snow when he saw me get stuck and he came to my rescue but now I'm worried that maybe it was all just too much.

I'm not really sure of what I should do.

Should I go knock on the door and find out?

Seriously.... what should I do!?

Agree, go ahead and take the gift of thanks over and see how he's doing.

@boomerang,
That is a scary feeling, Boomer.

But remember...the no sirens doesn't mean anything, really.

They may have treated someone there and left......if someone needed to go to hospital, it may not have required speed and high drama.

Your neighbour is an adult and made an adult choice.

Go knock on the door with your thank you...I don't think manners and concern ever go amiss.

What could a fire truck (as opposed to an ambulance) possibly mean?

@msolga,
I think fire-trucks often also carry paramedics in the US.

They might be first response sometimes, but an ambulance do transport.
Or..they had a fire, and maybe inhaled some smoke, causing an ambulance to come check them out?

@boomerang,
Grams neighbor behind (95ish) had the paramedis there today while I was over.

I told her what I'd seen, and she sent me over to check on him with some cookies.

(I'd never met the man)

He was OK, had just had a fall, and a scare, but appreciated the cookies and the heads up...

@dlowan,
Ah I see. (Different to Oz where the presence of a firetruck would mean fire!) Thanks, Deb.

In that case, boomerang .... yes, drop your flowers in & say thanks for the help. You never know, if your neighbor is incapacitated in some way, you may be able to return the favour by doing something for him.

So, did you go check on him? Was he okay?

Flowers were thoughtful, btw, as was his willingness to assist you. Nice to know this still happens.

Yes, he's fine!!!!!

And his family is just lovely.

I feel so much better knowing that he is okay.

They loved it that I brought him flowers and big thanks.

I told them that I had seen all of the emergency vehicles and that I had been worried that I'd killed him. They thought that was really funny and told me he actually needed more to do and he told me what a pleasure it was to help us out.

They told me how much they loved the snowman that we had built....

I told them how much I loved their son's drumming and how I was always pointing out to Mo how much he practiced and how good he is.

They told me I was the only neighbor who ever loved them for that.

It was great. I'm glad I overcame my hesitation. Thank you all for the prod to go ahead with my plan!
