Why doesn't my new avatar appear?

I see the same photo as the one in your profile.

You probably need to clear the cache on your computer. That has been the common cause of the problem for others and clearing cache corrected it in most cases.

Gravatar does take their time about updating their end of it so if it has been less than a couple hours since you did it, that could also be a reason. But try clearing your cache first.

Yes, you should clear your cache. I have tested changing the avatar and clearing the cache immediately after uploading to gravatar. As soon as I went back to A2K the avatar was changed. Sometimes it takes a bit longer but I have found minutes to be the case.

When I changed mine, it showed up for others to see, but I didn't see the change for at least a week.

Did you clear your cache?

This happened long ago enough, I don't recall the procedure.

Okay, I plead ignorance - how do I clear my cache?

I don't have a pc, and don't remember from when I had one, and apparently there are different things to do with different browsers.

However, try Tools to Options to Clear Temporary Files

or look at your browser's HELP button, and look up Cache...

These instructions are for a PC using XP. If you are using a Mac or Vista, let me know and I'll give directions for those.


Click on the My Computer icon on your desk top.

Locate Control Panel and click on it.


Locate Internet Options and click on it. About midway down the box will be a section about Browsing history with a Delete and Settings button. Click the Delete button.

A box with a list of options appears. The first option is Temporary Internet Files. Click on the Delete Files button next to it and then confirm that yes, you are sure.

When complete, click the Close button and then close all the other windows that were opened.

It worked when I got home and cleared temp internet files on my home pc.
