@RexRed,
With NO THANKS to republicans...Mary Cheney and her wife were able to marry in Washington DC...they can thank a democrat today as they continue to support the party of denial of rights...that works against every civil type of arrangement that could afford them true freedom...the party that TODAY is fighting to keep the Defense of Marriage Act so gay people no matter what state they live in will never get the federal protections of marriage...congrats Mary and Heather...I can't think of a more deserving couple to be married...and feel the second class status of DOMA...

@RexRed,
Well-- if quotes are the order of the day here's one from Barbara Cartland--

Quote:
....owing to the women being so hard and making so many demands on men, a great many men have gone homosexual simply because they're frightened, they feel they can't compete. A great many have gone impotent.

And one from Tina Brown--

Quote:
The great downside of the American woman's achievement is the problem they have with men . . . They are looking for such a high-powered man to counter balance their own quite high-poweredness that they don't find anybody and turn them all into homosexuals.

I'll admit that both those quotes are examples of terrible literary skills but both ladies have sold more words in one week than those quoted on here by others will do in a lifetime.

I don't think Barbara Cartland needs any introduction but Tina Brown might.

Quote:
Having been editor-in-chief of Tatler magazine at only 25 years of age, she rose to prominence in the American media industry as the editor of Vanity Fair from 1984 to 1992 and of The New Yorker from 1992 to 1998. In 2000 she was appointed a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for her services to overseas journalism, and in 2007 was inducted into the Magazine Editors' Hall of Fame.

There's a Gay Pride march in Bulgaria that's been threatened with violence. Follow the link below to sign a petition calling on the Mayor of Sofia to protect the marchers.

@RexRed,
Once you sign one of their petitions you get regular emails. It's pretty grim in Russia and a lot of Eastern Europe, not just homophobia, but racism and other types of bigotry abound.

Today Tristin wore his dress. Not a huge thing as he wears it quite often but this was different. Today was the first time he kept it on when we left. Usually when he wears it he will change, completely his choice, if I say we are going somewhere. He just wasn’t quite comfortable going out in public with it. Today he just put on his sandals. I asked him a couple times if he was sure and he was. So with a boy in a pink dress and Tinkerbell flip flops, we went.
We hit up Goodwill (finally found some teacups I liked!), Lowe’s and Target. I kept a look out for how people reacted to him, just so if he noticed I could talk with him about it later. There were some curious looks but nothing major. Most people were looking at my hair anyway. The only negative reaction I saw was actually a surprising one. A young girl maybe nine years old gave him a dirty look as we were walking out of Target. Tristin didn’t notice since he was talking about his new Hello Kitty flip brush/mirror.
I know there will be a day when he will notice how some people treat those who are “different” but I’m glad that for now he took a big step for himself and the world as he knows it is alright.
