Overall, they tell me, I'm probably a Hardcore Democrat. That's interesting as I've never been registered as a Democrat Party member or supporter. Like you, nimh, I question some of the premises and methodology of this quiz. But it was fun.

nimh, my scores are very close to yours. I am also a Hard Core Democrat -- I thought I'd be closer to the middle on some things, not so close to the ends of the scales!

Boy will I be glad when this election hoopla is over and we can go on to worry about who will run in four years! (I wish our elections were more like those in Canada -- you get six weeks to make your point in public, then everybody votes. The End.)

interesting if not quite accurate on some points. such as; while i believe that the government should try to make health care available to those who cannot afford the basics, i don't think it should be completely free. a sliding scale of ability to pay something should come before making it free. ya got no money, ya got no money... but other than that, the person should be willing to kick in at least a token amount just to keep it fair for everyone.

and another one is, i don't consider myself a total pacifist. i like peace as much as anyone, but sometimes the more powerful countries have to step in to stop the bad stuff. where i differ with some others is that i believe the u.n. does have a place in the world. it has become weak; partially through the actions of the bush administration and a lack of attention from other larger countries. and obstenance by some.

in any event, the american people would be wise to make real damn sure that what we are being told by a president is the real deal, and not some personal vendetta before supporting a unilateral use of armed force.

I think that quiz is broken.

I missed this the first time around....

Most of the questions are a little vague for me. The one that really stuck out was "20. Should stopping illegal immigration be one of our top priorities?"

Depends on how you men "stop illegal immigration". That can mean anything from "open the doors and allow everyone in" to "surround the country with barbed wire and attack dogs" to "make it so hard to hire an illegal immigrant that nobody will do so."

I always hate the superficiality of these quizzes, and have to intentionally avoid some answers (e.g. on this one I can't answer about pulling out of Iraq, because I know they won't use that answer correctly since I think it was a horrible war to get into but subscribe to the "you broke it, you bought it" thinking on withdrawal, and it's also unclear when they wrote the question as now that Iraq wants us out I think we should get out...) but I still love taking them and getting upset at how imperfect they are.
