538.com has it at 349-189 as their final projected total Electoral College votes. They still have FL, IN, MO and NC as toss-ups. OH leaning Obama and GA, MT and ND heading to McCain. NE has a bizarre system of allocating electoral votes: 3 of the the 5 are listed solid for McCain while the other 2 are tilting that way.

@FreeDuck,
Well "projecting." Is that the same as calling? I think so. (They show the picture of the fella with a check mark and "winner."

Just those two states... not any others.

@ebrown p,
According to CNN, Obama is falling behind McCain in Indiana. Indiana has been predicted for McCain, anyway, though. What is interesting is that the Democrat in the Kentucky Senate Race is leading, by a few points only, but that was considered to be a safe Republican seat.

@sozobe,
If Democrats take the Senate seats in Kentucky and Virginia, they have a good shot at a filibuster-proof majority.

@Setanta,
I am pretty sure that Obama will take Indiana by a couple of points (at least). The urban areas get counted last, so I am not surprised that McCain is up in the early going.

The exit polls in Indiana look good for Obama (for what they are worth).

@sozobe,
Mark Warner (D) takes the seat held by the venerable (i.e. really old) John Warner (R). They are not related. John was one of the few Repubs at the national level I could vote for. He was a true Virginia gentleman, which is short-hand for being honest and thoughtful.

I hope you're correct--taking Indiana would be another nail in a McCain coffin. I'm going strictly by the CNN reporting. One thing that these exit polls don't show, is how the early voting ran.

@Setanta,
That is kind of interesting, Set. The subject of early/absentee voting came up a few pages or more on this or another thread a few days ago. I fired off a query to NPR asking when those votes would actually be included in the count. Amazingly, I got a response today indicating that, in general, those votes would go to the appropriate precincts and be included in the totals.
But your observation was about exit polls. Some 20 million folks voted in the U.S. without going to the voting places today. I would regard exit polls with some suspicion.

@realjohnboy,
That was exactly my point, RJB . . . right now i'm depending on CNN, and CNN is using exit poll data.

CNN now shows (at their web site) Obama taking North Carolina, and it shows him trouncing McCain in Florida. All that hard work wasted--it's gonna be hard to rig the Florida election if Obama is whuppin' the boy's ass.

Going by CNN exit polls... Obama takes Indiana and North Carolina. I think that about wraps it up. It does appear that Georgia is not going to go Obama (it was on my wish list).

Does anyone know why CNN has no exit polls for Florida?

@ebrown p,
Probably aren't willing to share them because 4 million people voted early.

@ebrown p,
I really don't trust exit polls.

Seem like there is some encouraging news about a bellwether county in Indiana though (Vigo County -- Obama's doing well there, as per Nate Silver).

@ebrown p,
At CNN-dot-com, on their national map, if you over over Florida, they show Obama over McCain 55% to 45%.
