I have to agree with Green Witch. A responsible dog owner would ensure that he had a safe, secure and permanent place for his dog prior to getting one.

Ask some kennel owners in your area and see if they will take payments. I talked my sister into boarding a dog for free because the owner was active military and was sent to Iraq. The dog was at her kennel for close to a year.
