@JTT,
Yeah, and they made sure it was "legal" most of the time. Money talks in all forms of government - including communist ones.

@JTT,
Quote:

Communism isn't doing too badly in China, Wy, or Vietnam

From what I hear, communism has been abandoned there.
What remains is just a brutal military dictatorship in each place.

Quote:

The reason that communism doesn't work is the same reason that
the wide open capitalism of the USA doesn't work

I must say that I was taken aback
to see that anyone thinks that we have "wide open capitalism" in the USA.
That is what we had from the foundation of the republic,
until the early 1900s. I wish we had pure laissez faire free enterprize again.

@cicerone imposter,
Nonsense.
Thay will do what thay dam well PLEASE
The rulers have the army and the secret police to enforce their decisions.
Right now, thay love their fairly newfound capitalist abundance.
Laissez faire Capitalism comes NATURALLY to the Chinese.
The socialist despotism was an aberration.

I surprize myself in saying this,
but I wish thay DID continue with communism in China,
because it woud retard their economy thereby reducing
their competition for scare goods, like oil.

@OmSigDAVID,
David, You are not seeing the "real" China today. Most of their 1.3 billion people not only live in poverty, but are being poisoned to death. One-third of their rivers are polluted, and water must be trucked into many of their villages for survival.

China purchased a major percentage of the US bonds that are now losing value as we speak. They can't let those bonds loose in the world marketplace, because that'll only reduce the value further, so they are between a rock and a hard place. The assets they purchased in the US stock market also lost huge amounts - probably around 35%.

I've been to China three times. How often have you visited China?

So please tell me why my posts are nonsense?

@OmSigDAVID,
Hong Kong in no way resembles China's totality. Our guide of China and Tibet last November lives in Beijing, and she told us they don't drink or cook with the tap water because of the pollution problems.

There r major residual effects there, also.
Stalin et seq coud be ruff n brutal in manifestation

according to the news today, not only has her dem opponent raised close to a million dollars since she spouted off on hardball, but also;

she has simultaneously apologized and insists that she was set up and fell into matthews' trap.

and, the rnc has pulled all funding for her campaign's advertising.

gee, i guess the number of people feeling nostalgic for mccarthy's witch hunts is smaller than she thought.

too bad...

Yup, it's bye-bye time for Ms McCarthy.

Quote:

GOP Pulling its ads from Bachmann's race, Media Buyers say

Five days after Rep. Michele Bachmann went on a McCarthy-esque rant suggesting Barack Obama was unpatriotic and urging the major newspapers of the country to investigate anti-American sentiment in Congress, the national Republican political parties are running for cover.

Two sources aware of ad buys in Minnesota say that the National Republican Congressional Committee is pulling its media purchases from Bachmann's race. If true, it is a remarkable fall for a congresswoman who, until recently, seemed relatively safe in her predominantly conservative district. The race had become closer in recent days -- the NRCC had transferred funds from Rep. Erik Paulsen (MN-03) to Bachmann a little over a week ago.

In the days following her appearance on Hardball, however, Bachmann has watched as her challenger, El Tinklenberg raised more than a million dollars off her incendiary remarks. That surge in fundraising put Bachmann's re-election in a far less certain position. Bachmann tried to stem the bleeding by telling the press she was sorry for her remarks. But with the national party now apparently pulling the plug, the situation has gone from bad to worse.

Under fire for her remarks about Barack Obama and Congress, Rep. Michele Bachmann is effectively tied with Elwyn Tinklenberg in the Sixth Congressional District race, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KSTP-TV.

Democrat Tinklenberg leads Bachmann, a Republican, 47 percent to 44 percent, within the poll's margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points. Independence Party candidate Bob Anderson was favored by 6 percent.

What exactly does a Republican have to do to not pull over 40% in the 6th? Wow, she could kill and eat a baby seal on national television and still be seen as a viable option.

Are you sure they aren't "Anti-American"or "socialist"?

Or is hippie the new code word for the RNC?

Oh it's all about the codewords. And don't forget, when republicans call Obama's policies "socialist", they really mean he's a n----r.... LOFL!
