Bachmann Calls For McCarthyite Investigation Into Anti-American Activities Of Liberals»

Appearing on MSNBC’s Hardball today, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) attacked the patriotism of Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), based on his alleged relationship to former Weather Underground member William Ayers and the values of Obama’s former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. “I’m very concerned that he may have anti-American views,” said Bachmann. “That’s what the American people are concerned about.”

She then went further, suggesting that all liberal views " held by people such as Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, professors, and all Americans who identify themselves as “liberals” " are “anti-American.” When host Chris Matthews, stunned by her remarks, asked Bachmann how many people in Congress hold anti-American views, she responded, “You’ll have to ask them.”

Bachmann called on the media to conduct investigations into the anti-American activities of members of Congress, similar to Sen. Joseph McCarthy’s discredited House Un-American Activities Committee hearings in the 1950s. “I think people would love to see an exposé like that,” she claimed.

@OmSigDAVID,
Why am I not the least bit surprised? Just another group of conservative liars. Was your disbarment permanent? How many years did you spend in jail?

@JTT,
Maybe in the world of LSD (dont overdose); jail ? disbarment ?

Actually, I was in high school and in college
when I did this; I took my inspiration from Herbert Philbrick
the author of I Led 3 Lives, whom I had the honor to meet.
I felt good about that.

After a meeting that included Gus Hall,
I was on my way home, and I saw him on the street.
I reflected on how e z it woud be to take him out;
like pulling a rotten plum down from a tree; but that was not my mission.
I left him alone and continued on my way home.

Years later, after the collapse and death of communism,
he was interviewed about that. I was glad that he was still alive to see that.

If he is still alive, he may be getting the last laff,
with Obama 's showing in the polls now.

@OmSigDAVID,
McCain shows what he's really made of, scum.

McCain Using Same Robocall Firm That Helped Smear Him In 2000

In his efforts to attack Barack Obama, John McCain appears to have turned to the same political consulting firm that was responsible for spreading vicious smears about the Senator during the 2000 South Carolina GOP primary.

At the time, McCain railed against the practice of robocalls, calling them "hate calls" and complaining that voters were "inundated" by them.

On Friday, even GOP Sen. Susan Collins condemned McCain's robocall campaign. "These kind of tactics have no place in Maine politics," her spokesman said. "Sen. Collins urges the McCain campaign to stop these calls immediately."

@OmSigDAVID,
The absence of any measure of honesty in John McCain and in you, David, say much about conservative principles.

MY honesty was impugned by JTT,
regardless of McCain
(without explaining how I allegedly was dishonest).

i saw this on chris matthews.

the woman never answered a direct question and instead sputtered out the usual talking points. except for her statement that she wanted people investigated for anti-american sentiments.

let me be clear here. crystal clear.

**** her and the elephant she rode in on.

ineloquent perhaps, but honest. a quality that the rnc has lost all concept of.

it's a sad day for america when the mindless want to relive one of the nation's most despicable eras.

@DontTreadOnMe,
Lemme get in on that please, DTOM:
I supported n loved Senator Joe McCarthy.
I wish I had met him to have shaken his hand in gratitude and admiration!

Congress shoud mint a pure silver dollar commorating him;
bless his memory! He had his heart in the right place !

Do that to us one more time;
once is never enuf, with a man like him.
( not to imply that McCain is as good as he was,
but its a happy thought )

@OmSigDAVID,
I cannot argue with you so I won't. However, I can tell you that I completely disagree. Sen. McCarthy ruined more than he saved. In its pure form, Communism is an ineffective and unstable form of government, and I'd rather give people time to become disabused of romantic and impossible notions than tear the country apart trying to fight something that will fall apart on its own.

But conservatives generally think they know better than I do what's good for me.

Communism isn't doing too badly in China, Wy, or Vietnam. They are both blowing the doors off the USA.

The reason that communism doesn't work is the same reason that the wide open capitalism of the USA doesn't work; there simply are too many greedy people.
