@ehBeth,
interesting quote - will try vidalias, or whatever my ridiculous grocery store (in the scant sense) comes up with. To see a walla walla here would be a miracle, or a millacle.

@JTT,
Finally found Walla Wallas. Very very good.

Still not available regularly but I've bought them a couple of times now.

Tasty.

on re-reading the thread, I discovered how many things I've added to the cooking repertoire in 4 or 5 years. Walla Wallas! Caramelized onions!

@ossobuco,
I've recently become a fan of filo pastry...

I've been making all these little vegie pies ... Potato and leek, red onion and feta sprinkled on top sounds like a plan tonight now !!

Love onions.!!

@ehBeth,
I like the sweet oniony flavor that reds or spanish have. Walla wallas and vidalias are too, well... wimpy for my taste.

Caramelized onions make a great "bed of" upon which to present all sorts of meats, including scallops or veal chops.

@ehBeth,
I've probably already said it but, fresh brown bread, buttered, thick slices of a walla walla, salt and pepper = HEAVEN

That's not the 'so' either.

Bread that isn't white. But WWs are great on fresh white bread too.

@ehBeth,
You can't discern white from brown. Surely you jest, B.

@JTT,
I'm a food freak. I need details. If it's so good I need to figure out what it is.

Brown bread is not terminology used here.

@ehBeth,
'brown bread' googled, gives 12,900,000 hits. The 1st is a wiki. That oughta help you get up to speed.

@ehBeth,
I'm not sure that you're not drunk, ... or something, Beth. The Wiki would do at least as well as me and I'd not need to type all those words.

@ehBeth,
I seem to remember Boston Brown Bread. I can't characterize it from memory except to say sweet-ish and of faint texture. But I'm not sure I tasted stuff other than from a can.

Let me wing it and guess molasses.

@JTT,
it means I'm fed up with you

I looked for walla walla onions on your recommendation. then you recommend eating them with brown bread - but you won't tell me what it is

12 million+ google hits and you ******* won't just tell me what brown bread means when you eat it with walla walla onions

your evasions are classic

it pisses me off when you act like this on a simple ******* thread on onions
