@cjhsa,
In an extreme case of Obama-mania, six politicians in Brazil have changed their names to "Barack Obama" in the hope it will help them attract more votes in upcoming local elections.

The candidates hope to capitalise on the popularity of the US senator, who is bidding to become the first black US president after elections in November.

Due to a quirky Brazilian law, candidates may run under the name of their choice, The Guardian said.

As a result, at least six Brazilian politicians have officially renamed themselves "Barack Obama" in the hope of getting an edge on their rivals in next month's local elections.

@cjhsa,
As far as my point of view, it wasn't about Bristol being pregnant - Like Oh, my Gosh!

It was about

a) claiming she made the decision on her own to keep the baby,
b) her mother doesn't want others to have that choice,
c) the hypocrocy of the Right accepting this for Bristol but would be all over it as a moral failing if it was a Dem,
d) Palin wanting to teach abstinance only in our schools, (how'd that work out?)

and
e) Palins stance against abortion, her daughter choosing to keep the baby and get married at 17, and presenting that as an honorable choice when THEY can obviously afford to do that. Not everyone can, and those that can't are then rdiculed by the Right for being on welfare when they DO have the baby. So, it comes across as only an acceptable mistake for a 17 YO girl when she's from the right kind of family.

squinney,
Why do you keep repeating this lie?
She NEVER wanted to teach abstinence only in our schoools, and would like to see ANY evidence you have to the contrary.

By way, as has been pointed out, Palin backed abstinence-only education during her 2006 gubernatorial race. In an Eagle Forum Alaska questionnaire, Palin gave this response to the following question:

Will you support funding for abstinence-until-marriage education instead of for explicit sex-education programs, school-based clinics, and the distribution of contraceptives in schools?

Palin: Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support.

@OmSigDAVID,
Not as much as it tells us about your age, David. Very Happy

In the fifties my parents got married because they had to.

Today, my children have a choice.

I think that's a good thing. One mistake doesn't have to turn into another.
