Once about 25 years ago, my television in my bedroom
was struck by lightning. I was asleep. It was around 2AM.
I heard loud thunder and awoke to find my bedroom awash in red light.
It turned out to be my TV, which had become red
in the color of the light it sent forth. I coud not mute it,
nor reduce its loud sound, nor change the channel.
I had to turn it off (it was driving me nuts -- too loud) by unplugging it.
Its attached videotape recorder was in pristine condition.
The lightning had not come down thru my roof antena,
but rather thru the electric power line.
I was once in St. Petersburg. The weather was sunny and bright. You have to go over a long bridge to get to Tampa from St. Pete. Anyhow, It was the most amazing site. From the bridge, driving in bright sunlight, I could see the city, pitch black, with lightning bolts coming down every few seconds. Awesome!

Nebraska has some pretty crazy lightning storms (and storms in general)
While in person lightning is very cool, in pictures, I think stormy clouds look cooler.
