I agree, Brand X -- I'm going to have to put it out of my mind. It is very David Lynch and even Stanley Kubrick in its satirical humor. I could still watch it every week just for the titles and music. I could imagine it will have to have a devout cult following as it confounds as much as stimulates. I think Lodz is the only one to depart this world but who knows if he isn't a sinister demon like the Reverand and will slip into the netherworld only to surface later. This show is following the construction of a novel and could be too good for even HBO TV.

The show certainly ended leaving one with that conclusion. Mngmt gave his sight back for that brief period, then after he was supposedly dead, his eyes turned gray again. Who knows what that meant?

Quote:
Seems ben can heal just walking around, he doesn't have to touch.

I wonder if Mngmt resurrected Ruthie, and tricked Ben into thinking he had to kill?

I read that the writers wanted to tell the whole story in 5 seasons but it was condensed to 3. I think there is enough interest for HBO to buy the other two.

Certainly open to interpretation y'all! I think it is wise to make this a shorter series as a "War and Peace" length story could wring it dry. One thing a great writer knows is when to stop!

Does any one know when the second season is coming out? I haven't heard anything about it.

Carnivàle: Season 2 Premieres in January!

In Carnivàle Season Two, we begin the second chapter of our story.  Now that the players are positioned, the game is afoot between the forces of Light and Darkness.  Ben Hawkins experiences an apocalyptic vision that reveals what's at stake: The fate of the earth.

Ben initiates an uneasy apprenticeship under Management, continuing the search for his father, Henry Scudder, who holds the key to the identity of Ben's nemesis.  In order to find him, Ben must confront all the demons of his past.  However, Management's ultimate goal in the search is far darker and will claim a far greater price than he could have possibly predicted.

Meanwhile, as Brother Justin's dark power grows, sacrifice and penance is the order of the day, extracted from his followers and supporters a like.  Through the arcane teachings of the forbidden Gospel of Matthias, he learns more about his true nature, and the terrible steps he must take to fulfill it, including the key role played by a stranger named Henry Scudder.  Brother Justin then begins his own search for Scudder, putting our two principal players on a collision course which culminates in a fatal confrontation.

Daniel Knauf- Creator

Don't miss an all new season of  Carnivàle this January!

I watched the second episode of Carnivale last night, having missed the first one, unfortunately. It certainly is an intriguing production. Very compelling viewing.
I'll read your later posts in this thread as the series evolves.
I'd love to know a little more about HBO. I was extremely impressed with Angels In America, & now this! Wonderful stuff!
