more TE woes -- aaron hernandez is embroiled in a murder case...
Quote:
Surveillance video from the North Attleborough, Mass., neighborhood of Aaron Hernandez
shows the New England Patriots tight end with Odin Lloyd and two other people hours before
Lloyd was killed earlier this week, sources confirmed to ABC News late Thursday.

In addition, the Boston Globe reported that video images appear to show Hernandez and
Lloyd together on Fayston Street in Boston early Monday morning.

Hernandez, 23, has been at the center of the investigation since the body of Lloyd, a
27-year-old semi-pro football player, was found shot in the back of the head Monday in an
industrial park near Hernandez's home in North Attleborough.

Hernandez has not been ruled out as a suspect in the murder, law enforcement sources told
ABC News earlier Thursday.

Sources told ABC News the security system at Hernandez's home, along with his cellphone,
were destroyed. Police were at Hernandez's home again Thursday with another search warrant
based on evidence that Hernandez "destroyed his home security system," an investigator close
to the case told ABC News.

The investigator and other law enforcement sources confirmed the security system was
smashed intentionally. Hernandez's cellphone was handed over to investigators "in pieces" by
his attorneys, sources added.

Police also want to know why a team of house cleaners was hired on Monday to scrub
Hernandez's mansion, sources told ABC News.

Police say Lloyd was dating the sister of the mother of Hernandez's daughter.

@Region Philbis,
There was also some other case a while ago, in which, don't quote me since this is from memory, he was (surmised to? said to?) have shot a guy he was in a car with, the guy losing an eye and having some misery with his arm that the bullet went through. Law suit about that. I don't know the denouement. Questionable dude (it seems).

@ossobuco,
Sadly, Mr. Hernandez, at best is caught up in a cluster ****. Either he's a material witness to a murder or may have been involved in some way. He has destroyed his own cellphone and his home security equipment. He immediately had a cleaner come clean his home.

Things are not looking bleak for his involvement with this coming year's team. no idea of his possible guilt but he's got a world of legal crap to unravel.

I just wanted to say one thing here...I did not mean to come off as sounding insensitive or anything...When I heard, and was listening to what E.S.P.N was saying about Hernandez...I do not think that that is funny at all...and in that regard, all I would like to hear is restitution for that man that was killed...

I just thought it was clever what R.P. had said about Tebow, and that had crossed my mind also...and I think that it would be wise for Tebow to drop the pride since he is not going to start with Brady there, and actually be willing to be a tight end for the pats...I think he could actually be even more of a productive player if Tebow is willing to play a position that he can be utilized better than a wild cat QB...in NWE...

[Former Patriot] Aaron Hernandez arrested

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. -- Aaron Hernandez was arrested Wednesday morning, more than a
week after an acquaintance of the tight end was found dead in an industrial park near his house.

Less than two hours after his arrest, Hernandez was released by the New England Patriots, who
initially announced the transaction on their Twitter account before formalizing it in a statement.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office released a statement announcing Hernandez's arrest,
although charges were not disclosed. Hernandez was arrested by Massachusetts State Police, who
obtained the arrest warrant, and was booked at the North Attleborough police station.

The Massachusetts State Police announced on its Twitter account that the charges against
Hernandez will not be revealed until his arraignment at Attleboro District Court.

In an interview with WCVB, the ABC affiliate in Boston, Bristol County District Attorney
C. Samuel Sutter said he expects Hernandez's arraignment to begin at 2 p.m. ET Wednesday.

Less than two hours after tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested Wednesday in connection with a homicide
near his home in North Attleborough, Mass., the New England Patriots released their star tight end, saying
in a statement they felt it was "simply the right thing to do."

"A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn
his loss," the statement from the Patriots read. "Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing
that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement
investigations into this matter are ongoing. We support their efforts and respect the process. At this time,
we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do."

A few hours later, the 23-year-old Hernandez was charged with killing an aquaintance, Odin Lloyd, more than
a week ago. He also faces five weapons charges in relation to the murder.

"The involvement of an NFL player in a case of this nature is deeply troubling," read a statement from the NFL.
"The Patriots have released Aaron Hernandez, who will have his day in court. At the same time, we should not
forget the young man who was the victim in this case and take this opportunity to extend our deepest sympathy
to Odin Lloyd's family and friends."

The Patriots drafted Hernandez, originally from Bristol, Conn., out of the University of Florida in 2010. Last
summer, the team signed him to a five-year contract worth $40 million. The deal included a $12.5 million signing
bonus. When looking solely at the signing bonus and base salaries, Hernandez has earned $9.79 million of the
extension.

His new salary-cap charge in 2013 is just more than $5 million, an increase of about $1 million, league sources
told ESPN. For 2014, that charge will be $7.5 million, the remaining proration of his signing bonus.

It's unclear what kind of communication, if any, the Patriots had with the NFL regarding Hernandez's contract
over the past nine days. By releasing Hernandez on Wednesday, the Patriots appear to have waived all rights to
recoup any bonus money or salary through the collective bargaining agreement.

One other factor to consider: A club can recover bonus money and avoid a cap hit if a player violates one of the
league's personal-conduct policies or defaults on contract language. It's possible the Patriots have talked to the
NFL about this, but that's unknown at this point.

New arrest in murder case involving former Patriot Aaron Hernandez
Published June 27, 2013
FoxNews.com

Connecticut authorities arrested another man in connection to the investigation that led to a former NFL player Aaron Hernandez being charged with murder.

The arrest comes about 24 hours after Hernandez was led out of his North Attleboro, Mass., home in handcuffs.

Carlos Ortiz, 27, was charged as a fugitive from justice and has waived extradition to Massachusetts, authorities say. Prison records show Ortiz is being held on $1.5 million bail at a Hartford jail.
Officials declined to release the allegations against Ortiz, who is scheduled to return to court on July 23.

Ortiz was arrested Wednesday in Hernandez's hometown of Bristol, Conn. Preleski says the arrest came as prosecutors and Bristol police were helping Massachusetts authorities in the investigation of the shooting death of Odin Lloyd.

Murder charges were leveled Wednesday against Hernandez who prosecutors say orchestrated the execution-style killing of the semi-professional football player in the early morning hours of June 17.

MyFoxBoston reported Thursday that investigators are looking into
Hernandez as a possible suspect in a separate double murder that happened on July 16, 2012 in downtown Boston.
Bristol County Assistant District Attorney Bill McCauley laid out a detailed timeline of the alleged events at the arraignment inside the Attleboro District courtroom that was packed with journalists, reporters and Lloyd's family members.
McCauley also noted a series of text messages sent from Llyod’s cell phone to his sister.
"Did you see who I was with?" said the first message, at 3:07 a.m. on June 17. "Who?" she finally replied.
"NFL," he texted back, then added: "Just so you know."
It was 3:23 a.m. Moments later, Lloyd would be dead, McCauley said.

Lloyd, 27, a semi-pro football player with the Boston Bandits, had known Hernandez about a year and was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancée, the mother of Hernandez's 8-month-old baby, McCauley said.
On June 14, Lloyd went with Hernandez to a Boston club, Rumor. McCauley said Hernandez was upset Lloyd had talked to people there with whom Hernandez had trouble. He did not elaborate.

Two days later, McCauley said, on June 16, Hernandez texted two unidentified friends. He asked them to hurry to Massachusetts from Connecticut. At 9:05 p.m., a few minutes after the first message to his friends, Hernandez texted Lloyd, telling him he wanted to get together, McCauley said.
Later, surveillance footage from Hernandez's home showed his friends arrive and go inside. Hernandez, holding a gun, then told someone in the house he was upset and couldn't trust anyone anymore, the prosecutor said.
At 1:12 a.m., the three left in Hernandez's rented silver Nissan Altima, McCauley said. Cell towers tracked their movements to a gas station off the highway. There, he said, Hernandez bought blue Bubblicious cotton candy gum.

At 2:32 a.m., they arrived outside Lloyd's home in Boston and texted him that they were there. McCauley said Lloyd's sister saw him get into Hernandez's car.
From there, surveillance cameras captured images of what the prosecutor said was Hernandez driving the silver Altima through the city of Boston. As they drove back toward North Attleborough, Hernandez told Lloyd he was upset about what happened at the club and didn't trust him, McCauley said. That was when Lloyd began sending texts to his sister.

Surveillance video showed the car entering the industrial park and at 3:23 a.m. driving down a gravel road near where Lloyd's body was found. Four minutes later, McCauley said, the car emerges. During that period, employees working an overnight shift nearby heard several gunshots, McCauley said.
McCauley said Lloyd was shot multiple times, including twice from above as he was lying on the ground. He said five .45 caliber casings were found at the scene.
Authorities did not say who fired the shots or identify the two others with Hernandez.

At 3:29 a.m., surveillance at Hernandez's house shows him arriving, McCauley said.
"The defendant was walking through the house with a gun in his hand. That's captured on video," he said.
His friend is also seen holding a gun, and neither weapon has been found, McCauley said.

Hernandez was cut from the NFL team less than two hours after he was arrested and led from his North Attleborough home in handcuffs, and nine days after Lloyd's body was discovered by a jogger in a remote area of an industrial park not far from Hernandez's home. The 2011 Pro Bowl selection had signed a five-year contract last summer with the Patriots worth $40 million.

His attorney, Michael Fee, called the case circumstantial during a Wednesday afternoon court hearing packed with news reporters, curiosity seekers and police officers. Fee said there was a "rather hysterical atmosphere" surrounding the case and urged the judge to disregard his client's celebrity status as he asked for Hernandez, 23, to be released on bail.
Fee is expected back in court on Thursday in an attempt to come to a bail agreement.

The judge, though, ordered Hernandez held without bail on the murder charge and five weapons counts. If convicted, Hernandez could get life in prison without parole.

The Patriots said in a written statement after Hernandez's arrest but before the murder charge was announced that cutting Hernandez was "the right thing to do."

"Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation," it said.

@Region Philbis,
What was the point in not allowing Hernandez to be properly dressed for his first court appearance? To see him with his arms tucked between his back and the T-shirt merely thrusted over his shoulders was shocking.

Also, another search of his home was conducted today at 4:00 am, with his girlfriend still living at the home. Isn't 4:00 am a little too early?

What was the point exactly?

At this point in time, I think Hernandez needs to get 2 new lawyers. The ones he has don't look too bright.

That was how he looked when he was led away from his house. Like RP said, he must not have cooperated with the police. At his arraignment, he had his t-shirt on correctly, with his hands handcuffed in front.

@Ticomaya,
At his first court appearance he was dressed in a white t-shirt, red shorts, with his hands in front of him.

At his 2nd appearance in Superior Court, he had on somewhat like prison clothes.

As far as the time the cops picked him up at his house, he wasn't allowed to put on his decent clothes. I wonder why.

If that's the case, why did he ever let them into his house? Hhe could have ignored them and let them beat the doors down.

Perhaps because he was getting arrested, not being taken to Club Med.

As to why he let the cops in his house instead of making them kick in his door, who the hell knows.
