Russians have a saying about the English language, i.e. that it is the easiest language in the world to learn to speak badly; by that they mean that if all you NEED is to speak it badly, i.e. just well enough to get by, it shouldn't take you more than a couple of months. You should work at getting your own grasp of English up to at least that sort of level.
