This is probably a stupid question, but I'm tired, and I don't know a clear answer to this.

In one's profile, there is a line that says: "Answered Questions: 0"

First of all, what is the function of this? Second, how does it work? I'm sure I've answered a few questions, but the "0" doesn't change.

I think it has to do with that "select answer" thing and doesn't relate to if you simply responded to a question.

Say I asked: "what is 100 + 100" and you came back and posted "200" then I could hit the "select answer" button (it might say something else, I don't remember) showing that the question has been answered.

Then it would show up in your stats that you have answered one question.

I could be wrong but that's how I interpreted it.

@Region Philbis,
So, it is up to the person asking the question to decide whether they want to accept a particular answer as correct? Or, leave it open?

@Intrepid,
yes.
Reyn should have "choose best reply" (or something similar) in his post...

Thank you to all that answered here.

Sorry, RP, but there is no "choose best reply", or anything else in my first post. This is why I'm confused. I think I may have seen this in oher's posts, so I think you are right.

If I had such a feature in my initial post, it would be difficult, as the complete answer was shared. Although Boom had an excellent answer, RP had the final solution to this question.

So, why did my initial post not have the "choose best reply" feature in it? Confused

@Reyn,
It won't be in your initial post -- it will be in the header of the people who responded to your post. Look for a green button up by the "reply" button.
