My favorite restaurant burnt to the ground in the middle of the night last night and I'm very sad about it. This place is (was) only a mile from my house and they had the best food around here. It sat right on the coast with a spectacular view. It was a classy little place that was a bit expensive, but well worth it. I'm going to miss my favorite cozy little hide away :-(
Oh no!
Do you think the owners might rebuild?
I doubt it. I guess they've had the place up for sale for the past year because they're getting up there in age and wanted to retire and I hear that even if they wanted to rebuild that they may not be able too due to new zoning laws :-( I'm really gonna miss that place. They had the best seafood around here and a view to die for.
If they were trying to sell and couldn't, wasn't that fire a bit opportune?
Cynical, but a good question...
I'd hate it, too, if my favorite place would close, no matter what reason!
My condolences, Montana!
Losing the favorite place is so sad.
That sucks Montana
Good food can be rare, most 'joints' serve the same menu which unfortunatly get old too soon. Hopefully someone will belly up and fill the hole - as if were;-}
Ceili
Thanks everyone. A really appreciate it. You're all so sweet :-D

Yup, the thought has crossed my mind. I just read in the paper that the owners were vacationing in Maine at the time. Hmmmm!!!!
Sad to lose a good place like that.
It sure is Edgar. It's like a very good friend moved far far away :-(
Whenever I visit Corpus Christi (where I spent much of my youth) I see holes in the landscape as I remember it: This old house we rented torn down and something new there, the old high school moved, the streets around about the highway rerouted - There gets to be less and less reason to sight-see there.
Montana, was the name of the restaurant Billy Bobs on the Cliff? It sounds so familiar the way you describe it -- the great sea food, the spectacular view, the elderly owners. Plus the location would be correct. Damn! That was one of my favorite restaurants too.
I always thought Billy Bob seemed a little shady. His wife, Madge, was very nice. I feel your pain, Montana, I feel your pain.
We're in this one together

Hahaha!!! No, the name of the place was Mcphail's Lobster Haven.
