Republican "Paragons of Virtue" Part 1

Don't let homosexuals destroy the institution of marriage.
That's a job for "Christian" Republicans politicians:
Ronald Reagan - divorced the mother of two of his children (who had been married twice before), to marry Nancy Reagan who bore him a daughter only 7 months after their marriage.
Sen. Bob Dole - divorced the mother of his child, who had nursed him through the long recovery from his war wounds.
If you think George H.W. Bush was a model of virtue, check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Fitzgerald
Sen. Phil Gramm of Texas - divorced.
Sen. Lauch Faircloth - divorced.
Sen. Alfonse D'Amato of New York - divorced.
Sen. John McCain of Arizona - divorced.
Sen. John Warner of Virginia - twice divorced (once married to Liz Taylor.).
Newt Gingrich - divorced his wife who was dying of cancer.
Dick Armey - House Majority Leader - divorced.
Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia - Barr, not yet 50 years old, has been married three times. Barr had the audacity to author and push the "Defense of Marriage Act." The current joke making the rounds on Capitol Hill is "Bob Barr. . .which marriage are you defending?!?.
Rep. Helen Chenoweth of Idaho - divorced.
ex-Rep. John Kasich of Ohio - divorced.
Rep. Susan Molinari of New York - Republican National Convention Keynote Speaker - divorced.
Henry Kissinger - divorced.
Gov. George Allen of Virginia - divorced.
ex-Gov. John Engler of Michigan - divorced.
ex-Gov. Pete Wilson of California - divorced.
ex-Gov. John Roland of Connecticut - divorced
(imprisoned for corruption after resigning in shame).
Mayor Giulliani
Bernard Kerik, (Giulliani's famous protege and New York City Police Commissioner had two simultaneous adulterous affairs.)
George Will - divorced.
Rush Limbaugh - Rush (30-pill a day drug addict) and his latest wife, Marta, have six marriages and six divorces between them.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger, right wing conservative radio host. Promotes family values, estranged from her mother, opposes birth control, has had her tubes tied, espouses saving oneself for marriage, admits to having had sex before she was married, opposes adultery, has committed adultery while she was married, opposes divorce, is divorced and remarried.
Although clearly the beneficiary of Affirmative Action himself, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has been one of its beneficiaries and a champion of the white Republican establishment. And although he is an ultra-Conservative Catholic in most respects where others are concerned, he was uncharacteristicly liberal when it came to his own marriages. Two years after divorcing the mother of his one child, a Catholic woman whom he had married 13 years earlier, he took a second wife, which Conservative Catholics condemn, at least for those who don't have the prestige that Justice Thomas enjoys.............................

( Most leading Democrats, on the other hand, are still married to their original spouses. And here are some special examples :
Senator Robert Byrd of W. Va. celebrated his 60th anniversary in 2005.
Senator Harry Reid = 47 years in 2006
Actor Activist Alan Alda = 49 years in 2006.)---------------------------
No links but i challenge anyone to disprove the above statements.

Gay sex scandal rocks Spokane
By Chris McGann and Kathy Mulady
Seattle Post-Intelligencer reporters
Friday, May 6, 2005
Spokane Mayor Jim West, who championed an anti-gay agenda during his tenure as one of the most powerful Republicans in the Legislature, admitted to using the trappings of his current office to entice what he thought was a young adult man, but denied allegations that he molested two young boys more than 20 years ago.
West confirmed to The Spokesman-Review of Spokane that he offered gifts, favors and a City Hall internship during Internet chats with a man he believed was 18. The online pen pal was actually a forensic computer expert working for the newspaper. After the story hit the newsstands yesterday, West sent city staffers a remorseful e-mail. . .
In more than 20 years in the Legislature, West had initiated legislation to outlaw sexual contact between consenting teenagers; supported a bill that would have barred gays and lesbians from working for schools, day care centers and some state agencies; voted to define marriage as a union between a man and a woman; and, as Senate majority leader, allowed a bill that would ban discrimination against gays and lesbians to die in committee without a hearing.
As Spokane mayor, West threatened to veto a measure extending benefits to domestic partners of city employees."

20 years earlier Spokane was rocked with a huge scandal in which a police officer and boy scout leader was under investigation for molesting a number of boys, but committed suicide before he could be prosecuted. At that time the very close partner of that man, as both police officer and boy scout leader, Jim West, was not suspected of wrong-doing. West went on to become a very Conservative Republican legislator and then Mayor of Spokane.

Here's an interesting article from "Pat & Jerry Country":
"Convicted sex offender wins 'Republican of the Year' award",
by Matthew Roy, The Virginian-Pilot ©
February 13, 2002

Suffolk,VA -- " previous commitment will keep a Suffolk man from traveling to Washington, D.C., to accept a Republican of the Year award: He's serving a 26-year state prison sentence.
Spokesmen for the National Republican Congressional Committee, an arm of the Republican National Committee that raises millions of dollars to elect GOP candidates to the U.S. House of Representatives, acknowledged Tuesday that convicted sex offender Mark A. Grethen was invited to accept the award at its Business Advisory Council's luncheon in March. U.S Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., chairs the NRCC. . . The award was rescinded after the NRCC learned that Grethen, 44, a former businessman, was convicted last year of six sex crimes involving children -- two counts each of forcible sodomy, aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties. He is in the Deep Meadow Correctional Center, and his projected release date is Sept. 25, 2024."

Why is this one issue such a big deal? Sen. McCain's anti-earmarks stance has been paramount to his campaign. The Arizona senator has blamed everything from the Minneapolis bridge collapse to Hurricane Katrina on Congress's willingness to stuff bills full of pork barrel spending.

As such, Gov. Palin's image as a "reformer" is part of the storyline the McCain campaign needs to complement the top of its ticket. Her quip about passing on the bridge and "building it ourselves" has been a staple of her stump.

But she's drawn considerable fire as result. Sen. Obama's campaign released an advertisement pointing out her original support of the bridge. And on Monday, an Obama staffer emailed a photo of Gov. Palin holding up a T-shirt that was made shortly after the bridge caught national attention. It reads "NOWHERE ALASKA" and "99901," the zip code of Ketchikan.

The McCain campaign jumped back with spokesman Brian Rogers calling the attacks "hysterical."

"The only people 'lying' about spending are the Obama campaign. The only explanation for their hysterical attacks is that they're afraid that when John McCain and Sarah Palin are in the White House, Barack Obama's nearly $1 billion in earmark spending will stop dead in its tracks," Mr. Rogers said.

At a rally today, Sen. McCain again asserted that Sen. Obama has requested nearly a billion in earmarks. In fact, the Illinois senator requested $311 million last year, according to the Associated Press, and none this year. In comparison, Gov. Palin has requested $750 million in her two years as governor -- which the AP says is the largest per-capita request in the nation.
