@spendius,
Please do not respond to this
(not stating my opinion)
We can not make absolute decisions on a topic that has not been proven.
Im pretty sure people made the argument that the earth was flat because when they stared at the horizon it looked flat. We dont know what conclusion will come from the future.

All im saying is that education on the alternative is just that education, a professor once told me that 50 percent of what i teach you now will be incorrect in 10 years. If the idea of ID is so blantantly illogical let people study it, it will find holes in itself and thus like the world is flat theory it will revise itself

Exactly, By just letting the ID "research crowd" brag on and in about how they are looking for the concept of "intelligence behind the living universe" is what many of us proposed earlier. Why should we get in the way as to how they spend their funds. Its been , like 10 years since the "Search for Intelligence" had begun with websites and research grants being offered. I wonder where all the published research Is? Can you name me one relevant paper that has met the criteria of being reproduceable and was peer reviewed, and was somehow relevant? I sure as hell am not awre of any. Even the Creationist crowd has made its entire being out of trying to find fault with standard science. They havent been so bold as to do anything stupid like hunt for their own evidence. (Unless we count the hunt for Noahs Ark, and the "hunt for dinosaurs " in the Congo"

The silence from the ID crowd has been deafening dont you think?

@cicerone imposter,
They don't need to have been taught evolution at school to be able to do that. They use suck it and see science. The ancients knew about immunisation. It's just technologically advanced. Not scientifically.

You don't know anything about what immunisation does to the blood cells to enable them to fight invading viruses.

If you feel bad and the doc puts you on a course of pills for a week how do you know it was the pills that cured you and not your own body? How do you know that a pious belief doesn't help your body to do that better? If it does, and I think the possibility exists, for evolutionary reasons, one might see why the medical lobby would attack belief. Or some parts of it.

@farmerman,
yes i think i heard something on that... when they said if you melted the ice caps that the water would cover all land. I believe they used that as proof of a great flood. Wait who else had the idea of a great flood, I believe it was greek mythology who had Deucalion and his wife Pyrrah throwing stones over their shoulder to create people after a great flood.

you know one day the christian muslim and judasim mythologies will be revealed for what they are a gathering of all the elder religions rolled into one and given new names. Then we will find a new reason to fight with each other.

@lockeWiggins,
Flood myths abound. You should read the book by Ryaqn and Pittman about the several (at least 12) flood myths that were each,to some degree mewld into the Noahnic Flood story.
Myth doesnt mean fact underlies it or , if it does, the fcats may have been somewhat different than the final myth. Sorta like SCylla and Charibdis. There is a place in the Agean where dangerous currents challenge sailors and the rocks are near, but, theres never been a ny evidence of clashing rocks .

Flood myths are masotly a product of the middle East and Indo European cultures. Many civilizations do not have any mjor flood myths.

@farmerman,
Many civilisations do not have a lot of things we have. Take out your Yellow Pages and have a look at how many. Glance around your property.

Is an evolutionist against fighting? That's a turn up for the book. I thought evolution was about nothing else.

Presumably Darwin's forbears had done the fighting and he was having a free ride on their accomplishments. Presumably Darwin's forbears had done the fighting and he was on a free ride on their accomplishments.

Do you know the countries of the Middle East and Indo European cultures?

Mine are based on your inability to respond to different issues intelligently; it's an addendum, not the main message - like yours.

@spendius,
In a word, yes. When people are presented with facts/evidence to the contrary, and they keep believing in false information, they deserve to be called stupid.

Some people just use ad hominems without addressing the issue being discussed. That's childish and stupid.

@farmerman,
Oh and i think its interesting that nearly every picture of an angel shows a halo around its head which is obviously a form of sun worship.... which makes sense considering that jesus (who was born in a stable in the middle of winter but i wont get into that) whos birthday is dec 25th which interestingly enough is the first day that there is a noticeable increase in the amount of sunlight. and this day was celebrated as the birth of the sun up untill the romans combined their peagan religion with Christianity to prevent a holy war in their state. Which is when dec. 25th became the birth of jesus.... interestingly enough before then christians celebrated the birth of jesus as jun-6th which still isnt an original idea considering its the same birthday as the egyptian man-god attis who also died and was resurrected on march 23 and 25th respectively.

You need to add what was said before that post. If your memory can't handle it, it's understandable.
