@Robert Gentel,
Quote: It's not just for the whining. There's little gain for the system to give negative feedback that way.
The decision to change it actually stems from simple questions (like ESL ones)
getting such treatment, as the majority are more interested in discussions of a more "deep" nature.
Changes of this nature were always planned, and this cosmetic fix is so that
the changes can be put off for a while.
If I man offer an opinion
on the subject of negative feedback:
I rather liked it when the system automaticly deleted
4 letter obscenity words of obscenity. I, for one, don 't like reading of references
to
excrement (maybe unless someone has a thread on waste management),
and in MY mind the word f * * k (I put the asterisks in manually) refers
to a pleasurable mating experience, whereas it is almost invariably used
to express angry disapproval. Some of us remember how ugly it became
on Abuzz with filosofical denunciations repeatedly laden heavily with contempt,
anger, hatred, endless references to sexual perversity, expressed with obscenity.
Both sides of the ideological spectrum were guilty of this.
Altho, on Abuzz, I did not employ foul language beyond "damn" or "hell"
I was
not entirely innocent of reciprocally acrimonious vituperation,
after I had been
provoked by some commie.
I don 't know, but I suspect
that such misconduct woud not be tolerated on this forum.
I see that as a GOOD thing, and I
hope that it is the extant fact.
I do not see this as an issue of liberty, nor free speech.
This forum generously offers to convery language at no charge.
It can, but need not, publish foul language, if its owners opt not to do so.
I hope the computer will be programed to delete obscene words.
In my opinion, for what it may be worth
:
it will be a more pleasant forum
without the obscene words; just for what its worth.
