Title says it all, what are your best poker tips?

Strategies?

What are common tells?

How do you get into the mindset?

How do you keep your mental energy up?

Does knowing about psychology help?

Does being good at math/statistics?

My biggest problem is that in social situation i lose energy very very quickly, i dont know how to keep it up. after 2 hours im totally drained and cant focus.

Other than that, i completely know everyone's hand, i have a gift. i just dont have the skill yet...

@Robert Gentel,
fasho

heres some of my observations, ive only played about 250 bucks on a 20 dollar buy in table..

mostly i just deal hands by myself and try to learn and observe etc..

- if your cards suck, your probablly going to lose

-if your cards are good, you still might lose

- its a mental game, mixed with a numbers game

thats all i got haha

@OGIONIK,
If you want to play better poker, play less poker (fold more)(a lot more.)

@OCCOM BILL,
That's at least 90% of the game: being tighter than your opponents.

@OGIONIK,
I am a "read' and psyche player. Poker is aboot the bluff with regular joes.

I rarely play with pros, however. (I am poor)

@Rockhead,
Actually, when you get to high stakes poker it becomes very useful again. It's the low limits but still competitive poker where tight matters the most.

So in home games, you can bluff a lot. Playing $1-2 at a casino usually means you are at a table full of home game heroes and being tight is usually the most important factor.

Then you get into more competitive poker where people are making smarter plays and you can try to outplay people again. But at the low stakes the play is both competitive enough and bad enough that bluffing and reading and generally trying to outplay people is usually a bad strategy.
