What does El in "Mohamed ElBaradei" mean? Can we omit it when we translate it into another language by calling him "Bardei"?

You cannot change family names, even thought they are composed with articles and pronouns.

You wouldn't change Dupont into Pont and Leconte into Conte..

In Arabic 'El' = the

It cannot be removed, as previously stated.
