If you were trying to track whether there were environmental triggers to certain behaviors what all would you track?

Along with all of the weather related info I'd look at where they went that day, what they ate, changes in things like soaps/toothpastes/detergents/shampoos used, etc...

Also, pollen type can be as important (if not more so) than pollen counts.

from a migraine trigger page

Quote:
# Diet and foods. For example, dieting too fast, cheese, chocolate, red wines, citrus fruits, and foods containing tyramine (a food additive).

# Environmental. For example, smoking and smoky rooms, glaring light, VDU screens or flickering TV sets, loud noises, strong smells.

# Psychological. Depression, anxiety, anger, tiredness, etc. In some people migraines occur when relaxing following periods of stress. (For example, during weekends or holidays.)

# Medicines. For example, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), some sleeping tablets, and the contraceptive pill.

# Change in habits. For example, a change in sleep patterns (missing sleep, lying in, etc), missing meals, long distance travel, jet lag, etc.

for environmental triggers in this example, they seem to be considering a lot of sensory stuff - sights/sounds/smells/tastes - I wouldn't be surprised if touch should/could be in there as well

then there are the asthma triggers

(you're in prime territory for a few of those)

we've talked about the asthma/behaviour connection before - you might see one before the other / both together

Wow. Thank all, and especially you, ehBeth, you are an amazing resource for health issues. I appreciate everyone's input. I do believe you Joe. "Environment" is a huge and complicated thing.

I think I might have to set up a spread sheet to track so much.

But that's okay, I can do that.

I really want to get to the bottom of things and all things being equal I can only look to environmental factors at this point.

<curtsies>

I did my first project on allergies in grade 5. Once an allergy geek (and an environmental sciences grad), always an all-round geek.

~~~
I'm truly fascinated how much research has been done over the years in this area. Things that docs said to the hamburgers about my allergies on gut instinct 40+ years ago are now often turning out to be verifiable. That makes me happy.
The skin on my hands is aging significantly prematurely from long-term steroid use - but I'm alive. Thank goodness for good docs and keen researchers.
it is, but you certainly can do it.
I wonder if approaching it like a baby's food allergy diet chart might work. Mo might not appreciate it - but if you present it as a project of some sort ...
His being a somewhat fussy eater could help in that regard - you wouldn't have to worry much about food as a variable.
