Does Obama believe that we live in a free country?

If yes, does he know what made and continues to make this country free?

Jesus Christ made this country free, and don't you forget it.

I can't wait to hear this from Obama.

But you won't like the answer. Things like "shared sacrifice" don't include tax cuts during war time. "Dedication to the belief that all men are created equal" doesn't work when you are picking up people with brown skin for no other justification than you think they are illegal immigrants. "Trust in the rule of law" and "the right to face your accusers" might cause problems when the government is getting your phone tapped without a warrant or holding prisoners without presenting even the flimsiest of justification for their detention.

I didn't know Obama has all of those things planned for us.

You got a point to make here H20, or is this just another anti-Obama thread about nothing?

Let me answer your questions affirmatively.

Yes Obama believes we live in a free country.

Yes he knows how we stay free.

Yes, we understand that you hate what Obama stands for (which is funny considering the first two answers I gave you).

Now, please say something interesting.

Obama wrote:

For when we have faced down impossible odds, when we've been told we're not ready or that we shouldn't try or that we can't, generations of Americans have responded with a simple creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can. Yes, we can. Yes, we can.

It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation: Yes, we can.

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail towards freedom through the darkest of nights: Yes, we can.

It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness: Yes, we can.

It was the call of workers who organized, women who reached for the ballot, a president who chose the moon as our new frontier, and a king who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the promised land: Yes, we can, to justice and equality.

Yes, we can, to opportunity and prosperity. Yes, we can heal this nation. Yes, we can repair this world. Yes, we can.

I'm not anti-Obama, he's a nice young man.

I just want to know what his take is on what made and continues to make this country free.

EDIT: I'm not interested in what his speech writers wrote for him.

Can we confiscate 1/7 of the US economy (the health care sector) ?

Yes we can

Can we confiscate the oil companies to pacify Democrats in Congress?

Yes we can

Can we pretend that these are consistent with a free country?

Yes we can

Can we cozy up to terrorists like Pentagon bomber Bill Ayers and wrap ourselves in the flag?

Yes we can

Can we flip flop on Iraq, NAFTA, the death penalty, the gun control issue and any other issue we choose while getting Dems to believe they have a candidate of principle?

Yes we can

Well, you could call him up and ask him (although you might understand if he doesn't have much time to answer individual calls right now), or you could look at what he has written and said (and he has said quite a bit about freedom).

How can anyone answer your question? Are you sure McCain believes in freedom?

All I am asking you is to tell me why this isn't a meaningless thread.

((you could legitimately ask why I am posting on a meaningless thread, and you would be right. I have no answer for that one)).

Not sure if 'Present' Obama really believes in a free country in the way most Americans understand it.

But he sure talks purty.

It's not meaningless to want more information on one of the two men that are in line for the white house.

If you really thought my questions were meaningless you would not have responded over and over ...

What the heck is a "free country as most Americans understand it".

I am an American, and I sure as heck don't know what you are talking about.

Are we talkin' about guns?

Then perhaps you know why I didn't say that all Americans understand it.

'Present' Obama occupies his position on the ultra far left extreme of the political spectrum.

He is waaaaay out of touch with the political middle.

Which is why not many people will vote for him (and he has no real chance of winning?
