Which renowned viking do you think was the greatest, most renowned or feared?
Harald Hardraada- feared king of Norway and was killed invading England in 1066?
Canute- Won the English throne in 1016 and an Empire through a series of grim battles, but became quite holy and reigned until 1035?
Near as I can tell, the most serious thing any vikings ever did was set up the Russian states which existed prior to the Mongol invasion.
These were called 'Varangians" or 'Varyagi' as in Rimsky-Korsakov's "Pyecnya Varyazhnova Gosta', or Song of the Viking Guest.
its either Fran Tarkenton or Alan Page.
Either that or Thorfin Karlsefni and his main squeeze Gudrid.
