praying for jet packs

The following is an excerpt from "House M.D.",

House (to the woman who thinks she was saved from death by praying):You know how many little boys are praying for jet packs? How many priests are praying for... uhm, well... that one actually works.

I have no idea what's funny/interesting about it, especially the tagline "that one actually works".

Can someone explain to me?

Thanks in advance.

Try this...

Jet packs are to little boys as little boys are to priests. Get it?

Where the ellipsis came in substitute "little boys".

How many priests are playing for little boys. Get it?

Pardon, I try not to step on your toes on the English threads, as you are the Master.
