No it isn't. You made the claim that Iowa is different because it is a red state. You didn't say that Iowa is different because some
parts of Iowa are red. If you had, you would have been making a different argument and I would not have responded as I did. But you didn't make that argument.
If you're making that argument
now, then we need to look at what parts of Iowa are red and compare that to the parts of Iowa that are underwater. That's not easy, because Iowa has experienced flooding in a number of different places -- but then so did Louisiana. The hardest hit city, however, is probably Cedar Rapids. Looking at the 2004 presidential election, we see that Linn County, where Cedar Rapids is located, voted 55%-45% in favor of John Kerry. That makes Linn County a blue county, and so Cedar Rapids, the largest city in Linn County, is presumably a blue city.
On that basis, therefore, there is nothing to distinguish blue underwater New Orleans from blue underwater Cedar Rapids. Wanna' try again?
