The concern is related perhaps to the story of the Trojan Horse?

Only Mrs. Obama can tell us that! Laughing

The smear and fear campaign marches on...

How is this "smear and fear"?

Because it is recycled crap that has already been shown to be false.

The picture of Obama is not of him in "muslim apparel."

Can i have some of what you're smokin'?

I never smoked. And, the Trojan Horse was just a metaphor for what fears some people might have relating to Obama's early religious education, if it wasn't Christianity nor Judaism (then his name might then be either Blessed or Baruch respectively, I think?).

I think you aren't getting the wingnuts' mischievous sense of humor here. I mean, the same people who keep hinting that Obama is a closet Muslim jihadist also insinuate that his wife is too emancipated and too outspoken. In context, the whole thing is hilarious. It cracks me up!

Have we really become so obsessed with the threat of militant Muslim
extremists that "early religious education", given names, and a goofy
photo are enough to make us fear that Obama is a "Trojan Horse"?

God help us.

(For various values of "God")

"The wingnuts' mischievous sense of humor"

Yep, that eluded me.

... and why is it early religious education that's so important, as opposed to the choices he made as a mature, responsible grown-up? Heck, I received a religious education in elementary school, and voluntarily went to prayer classes. If my religious beliefs hadn't changed since I was a child, I might well be a Southern Babtist today. And I don't mean the Jimmy Carter kind.

Are the good burghers of Metuchen aware they may have a Southern
Baptist Trojan Horse in their midst?

I kinda wished you had smoked... as it might have explained this idiocy you are spouting.

One candidate:

- Supports rights for homosexuals.
- Chooses diplomacy over the use of force.
- Categorically opposes the use of torture.
- Champions women's rights.

The other candidate:

- Accepts the idea religious beliefs should influence public policy.
- Thinks the use of torture can be justified by situations.
- Accepts the reduction of civil rights based on military need.

Which of these two candidates has the militant "Islamic" upbringing?

How is your position, being so far from anything resembling reason, anything but hate and smear?

It's not "smear." It's schmear, like in "give me a schmear (of cream cheese) on a bagel.

Now that you told me that Obama supports gay rights I am even more sure of my vote for McCain, since gay rights was fine, in my mind, when it was trying to stop gay bashing. But, since I don't believe in gay marriage as a direction society should take, I have been lost to the "gay cause." In my opinion, this gay marriage cause celebre is beyond the pale so to speak, so I personally think it might just cause a conservative backlash at the voting booth.

In my opinion, only a man and woman should be married in society for procreating the species. Gay marriage is just "too creative" for my parochial tastes.

It's a secret, so don't tell anybody else, especially not on the internet.

... said the Saudi-born, Arabian speaking "New Mexican" with a Stetson. (I mean, really, how cliché can a disguise get?) Is Dys a covert Muslim, or just plain evil? I've reported, you decide.

Interesting choice of deal-breakers.

I assume not allowing people to marry is more important to you than meaningless detritus such as:

- Chooses diplomacy over the use of force.
- Categorically opposes the use of torture.
- Champions women's rights.

Jeesh Dlowan,

When the Muslims (led by their trojan horse candidate) take-over and institute Sharia law, banning all of these things and demanding that religion dominate all of public life... then you will see.

I was raised in catholic schools. Today, in my elder years I am an atheist buddhist. But at least catholics and catholicism is no mystery to me. Compare this to the profound ignorance of Islam characteristic of the American president who went to war in our name with a people whom he knew virtually nothing about.
I am encouraged by Obama's background. He's much better prepared to deal with the Islamic world--on our behalf.

Homophobia and Islamophobia. I have always found this an odd combination.

Religious fanatics hate each other... but they are more alike then they care to admit.

You mean there are no Muslims in Moslem countries that are Christophobics? Or, homosexuals that are Christophobics? One group might have a few individuals that think of Christians as the Crusaders, the other group might have a few individuals that think of Christians as those that think homosexuals are abominations.

Let's be intellectually honest, any phobias and paranoia go in both directions.

Meanwhile, there are homosexuals today that live free lives in the U.S., and Muslims today that live free lives in the U.S. How many Christians can live today in Moslem countries? How many homosexuals can live today in Moslem countries?
