From where do you know the number of 320,000 new recruits/year?

For the FY 2006 the Army's goal was to recruit 80,000 new active-duty enlisted soldiers .... and they fell short by more than thousand.

Did the number increase so high in just one year? (2006 > 2007)

"Active duty Army" isn't the entire military.

You also have Active duty Navy, Air Force and Marines, Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Reserves and Army and Air Force National Guard units, etc...

Fiscal 2007 Enlisted Recruiting (from October 1, 2006 - September 30, 2007):

Componant Accessions

Army 80,407
Navy 37,361
Marine Corps 35,603
Air Force 27,801
Army National Guard 66,652
Army Reserve 35,734
Navy Reserve 10,627
Marine Corps Reserve 7,959
Air National Guard 9,975
Air Force Reserve 7,110

Total = 319,229.

Okay, I didn't think of those ( Army National Guard, Army Reserve,
Navy Reserve etc) .... as Globalsecurity org didn' list them in their numbers.

But that's okay (if we did the same kind of counting, we still had rather large armed forces  ).
