I got sucked into doing all the damn art work for our HS yearbook. I was so far into detention that Id probably still be in Mrs Brills "Tank". '''FURR HIGH SCHOOL"-- chuckle. Imagine naming your highschool after a body part.

They already document their lives on Facebook. Why buy a dead tree?

Did u apply for a writ of habias corpus ?

I am not sure whether I bought a hi school yearbook, or not.
I did not go to a photographer, as thay requested, to have my mug shot.

I remember that I did not bother to attend its graduation; college either.

I attended junior hi school and law school graduations; that 's about it.

As I recall, neither hi school, nor college distributed anyone 's diploma
at the graduation, except the president of the class.
I saw no point in attending to hear some leftist speaker 's bloviations there,
in the hot sun.

I've still got 3 of the 4. Don't know what happened to my Freshman yearbook.
I did the bulk of the art in my Junior and Senior yearbooks too. Very Happy

I still have my senior yearbook and it is still a treasure. My old friends all signed it - some of them are gone now. My old girlfriend put in her sappy love note. Debby T reveled to me she was pregnant with her boyfriend (turns out she wasn't). And all the youthful faces that I will never forget. That's something you just can't put on Facebook.

The times are changing.

Some Generation Gaps are now chasms--but the world continues to spin.

It's not surprising. Back 20 odd years ago when I graduated my class of 400 didn't all get yearbooks. I'm betting it was only 50-60% at best.
I purchased all of my yearbooks.
I also purchased the DVD's from my college with alumni updates. Looked at it once. Cost a fortune. Won't buy another one.

I think they have to come up with something more in tune with the kids, just like facebook and myspace they want their own little personal remembrances and they want it in an updated media. I don't know what to tell them but, it is sad to see them just not being done. Feel bad for the kids who do want their yearbooks and can't get them.

They could always put together their own yearbook on LuLu or other on line publishing outfit also.

Wow. I found this sad.

Then again, I'm pretty sure 100% of my high school classmates got year books every year....graduating class of 1977.

I have all 4, and 3 of them have signatures all over the pages.

In senior year, there was some problem in getting them to us on time, and we had to come in later, after graduation, to get them.

I remember being very upset, because no one was able to sign your book.

I'm going to pull out my books tonight, and go down memory lane.

Do you think kids today will go into their facebook archives or whatever, and do that?

no.

My niece's school is doing an on-line book that people can add to and update as the years go by.

I never heard of getting a year book for each grade. I have a senior book, although I think it's buried in my parents basement, probably along with my class ring (a true waste of money). I have no urge to go back down that particular memory lane. I couldn't wait to get out of my HS where a typical graduation gift was a sporty Trans-AM (sp?) or starter condo. I even took extra credit classes so I could graduate early and move to NYC before beginning college.

I bought only my senior year book....i look at it and my 'memory book' more than I thought I would. My yearbook is not even packed away, it's displayed predominiately on the lowest shelf of my books (where all the 'coffee table' books are...one HUGE ones lol).

I can't imagine a time where I wouldn't want to read the notes left to me by my friends at that time.

My space and facebook ain't got nothing on year books if you ask me.

actually, I had a shitty time in high school, and couldn't wait to get out.

I just love looking at yearbooks and laughing at the goofy hair and platform shoes.

oh....here's a good one....I went to Catholic high school.....platform shoes definitely frowned upon.

One day, I got sick in the middle of the day, and the nurse called someone to pick me up. My brother was on his way, so she let me walk out to the front to wait for him.

I remember I really did feel like crap, and I looked it too.

I was walking down the hall, and Sister Rosetta Stone stopped me and asked me "And where do you think You're going?"

I told her I wasn't feeling well, and my brother was picking me up.

"Well" she said, eyeing me up and down, "No wonder you're feeling ill. You're probably suffering from oxygen deprivation from being at such a altitude in those shoes."

"yes sister"

I remember taking a lot of days off; stayed home n slept.
My grades were high, but I cant say that it was much fun.

I remember that, in college, I arranged my schedule
for the last 3.5 years so that I had classes on Tuesdays n Thursdays;
2 days on and 5 days off.

Law school was Monday - Thursday.

no.

Why not? I go through 5-year old threads here sometimes... I bet that kids who keep blogs, for example, definitely read back through old entries and comments when they feel nostalgic.

Amusing?

I hope the employee with the crazy sense of humor is job hunting.

Not really... it's more of an exercise in nostalgia. And of course, I'm more likely to read back in the What made you smile today? thread than in, say, the Iraq, Iran, the US and the UN thread...

You're right. I do feel sorry for the yearbook company losing $78K over this person.

I guess I meant amusing in that it was a stunt pulled.

I don't know if this emplyee thought no one would notice, or complain, and that they couldn't track down who did it. Confused
