Given the character and the persistence of the venemous insults that have been flung about by some people here ("trash talk"), I find it a little wierd that some of the more restrained among us are worried mostly about its potential effect on Obama.

Not a criticism so much as just an impression of something strange.

I don't think it is strange at all. We need to be united, the stakes are too high.

"Supreme Court Pick" (for just one example).

We need graciousness from both Obama supporters and Clinton supporters.

George Bush has given the election to the Democrats. It is yours to lose.

Now, get out there and make it happen!!

(Two exclamation points to emphasize the strong imperative.)

Sometimes you have to be good, BPB. This time, all you have to be is not terribly bad.

Oh, you mean Kerry, right?

but 24 hours ago you weren't offended or concerned about shittiness towards Hillary supporters.... only the opposite.... now that it seems almost a certainty that Obama will get the nomination you want graciousness....if I didn't know better.... if I didn't know you Obama supporters were above such things.... why it would almost seem like regular same old same old Washington politics....

Last week we were in the heat of a long, difficult, primary battle. You perceive "general shittiness" (my perspective is a bit different but no use arguing now). Now this nomination process is coming to an end with one candidate on top. We always knew that it would end.

If we don't unify behind the Democratic nominee, then we will be faced with a McCain administration. This would be a disaster in many areas from reproductive rights to militaristic foreign policy. If my candidate failed to win the nomination, I would look at this and understand that beating the Republicans is far more important than an intra-party spitting match.

You ask "why should this election be different?" after we have endured nearly 8 years of the Bush Administration?

This is election should most certainly be different.
