I'm trying to find information for a research paper we're working on. The topic is Chinese religion. The time period is 1870 - 1920. Where can I find sources for that time period?

Thanks.

See if you can find a copy of :

"The Religious System of China: Its Ancient Forms, Evolution, History and Present Aspect, Manners, Customs and Social Institutions Connected Therewith" by Jan Jakob De Groot
Brill Publishers, The Netherlands. It's six volumes, but he covers the late 19th century into the early 20th rather well.

I think it's still in print and I know it's been translated into English because I once owned it. I think a decent college library could find you a copy or check around on-line.
