So, yesterday was a day of shooting in New York.
As I got off the subway at 16th and 8th, I got to see the twenty cops investigating the shoot-out involving two cars (which ended up sandwiched into each other and, if I counted the number of coffee cups covering either the cartridge shells or the bullets correctly, fourteen shots.

Julia Roberts is shooting "Duplicity", a movie, two doors down the street. Lots of interesting things to see.

Joe(if my timing had been worse one of them could have killed me)Nation

Maybe a drug turf battle or a Mafia hit.

I remember some years ago,
I was driving home from my girlfriend 's at around 1 am
when an old car that had been tailgating me for a while
came up abreast of me and popped a round off of my driver's side window.
The bullet hole was c.3 inches forward of me.

At the sight of my stainless steel mirror .44 Taurus Model 445 revolver
in my hand, thay fled the scene post haste, or swifter.

Showing a weapon might work where you are, here in Gotham we would be reading a recitation of your final moments on page three of the NY Daily News.

Here's what the current gun culture has done for us here in this little corner of the world. The flow of handguns into the city remains as steady as the flow of the East River out of it. So there is a thing called the Gun Squads amongst the Finest of New York, a series of four cop teams whose only mission is to find guns and remove them from the hands of whomever has them. There is also a law which mandates a three and a half year sentence for anyone found with an illegal firearm. It works. The Gun Squads have removed a bunch of guns. About 600 guns in the past year, a couple a night, not bad.

But it has wound up things. Tighter. Especially amongst those who need their guns for business purposes. No, I am not talking about the fricking hip-hop artists who want to be seen with the handle of a gat sticking outta their underpants on a Saturday night, I am talking about the drug gangs. Most of the time if a policeman says "Hey, " everybody will take a breath, but not the drug boys, if a policeman, or nearly anyone, says "Hey." they start shooting.

At a party, in a park, at a parade, it happens. Little girl shot in the foot by some fool, young mother takes one in the head on her doorstep.

So.

The cops are tightly wound too. That's why Sean Bell is dead with fifty bullets in his car and unarmed body on his wedding day. That's why Amadou is dead with 29 or 36 shots in his unarmed body. He reached for the ID in his wallet.

Now, some say that the cops shouldn't be so uptight. They act like they are in a war zone.

Gee, it saddens me that u have so low an opinion
of my defensive capabilities, Joe.

I thought I had fairly decent defensive firepower n accuracy.

Sounds HORRIBLE.
The gun squads shud be confined to many years in prison
for violating the US Constitution and its Bill of Rights,
and UNITED STATES CODE TITLE 18
CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE PART I
CRIMES CHAPTER 13 - CIVIL RIGHTS
" ยงยง 242. Deprivation of rights under color of law
Whoever, under color of any law, statute,
ordinance, regulation, or custom,
willfully subjects any inhabitant of any State,
. . . to the deprivation of any rights,
privileges, or immunities secured or protected
by the Constitution or laws of the United States, . . .
shall be fined not more than $1,000
or imprisoned not more than one year, or both;
and if bodily injury results shall be fined under this title
or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both;
and if death results shall be subject to imprisonment
for any term of years or for life. "

I c.
So that means that there will be no more crime in NY, right , Joe ??
Because the criminals will have no more guns,
and thay will not lower themselves to get other guns
because the criminals r public spirited citizens,
with respect for the gun squads and the anti-gun laws, right ??

So now 600 criminals are running around UNARMED ?
Did I get that right ?

No, I am not talking about the fricking hip-hop artists

U shud tell them to stop fricking, Joe !

( No fricking in NY, anymore ! )

U shud tell those gangs to forget about DRUGS, Joe,
and leave them ALONE !

Most of the time if a policeman says "Hey, "
everybody will take a breath,

Well, for MY part,
I do that no matter what ANYONE says; my surgeon approves of that.

but not the drug boys, if a policeman, or nearly anyone, says "Hey."

they start shooting.

THAT strains credulity, Joe.
I suspect that thay have better use for their ammo.
For SURE, I know I do

So.

The problem is that the anti-drug laws have created an illegal
drug culture. No one who wants drugs is going to care
what government wants concerning what thay can ingest.
Government has never had any jurisdiction
to control what anyone ingests; it tries (unsuccessfully)
to influence that by USURPATION of dictatorship.
These crime problems did not exist until government created them
artificially by usurpation of power to control what people ingest.
This crime wave IS OF GOVERNMENT CREATION.;
i.e., no anti-drug laws = no more drug turf wars,
and the bottom 'd fall out of the market for those drugs.

True, and not just NYC. Pull a gun on the wrong person, you will either use it or need the services of a proctologist.

of my face. What 'd u recommend ?
