My Grand Daughter's Stinking Breath

Reply Sun 20 Apr, 2008 08:55 am
My soon to be three years old grand daughter's breath became stronger and stronger. By the time she went into his office, the doctor could smell it from across the room. Mrs edgarblythe had kept it to herself (confiding in only me) that she suspected it may be diabetes. But, the doc said, "She's got something up her nose." Sure enough, he brought out a special instrument and pulled out a long bit of what proved to be paper. The paper had been in there long enough to begin changing color. As he held it up before my daughter and grand daughter, my grand daughter said, "All better now." Case closed.

Yes, kids say and do the darnest things. Laughing

It is also normal, edgar, that parents/grandparents assume the worst (diabetes) while in the end a simple remedy will alleviate the problem (paper). I don't care to remember how many trips I took to the ER
with the kid (and probably still have a few ahead of me) but so
far, my fears have always been worse than the outcome of the incident.

I am not religious, but I do think that kids have someone
watching over them.

Thanks, people. The relief that we felt makes it all the more humerous.

We got a chickpea out of my daughters nose.

Two days it had been there.

What goes in children's noses could fill volumes, I bet.

I'm glad it was just stinknose.

There are the milestones you hear about: walking, talking, reading, etc.

Then there are the milestones you don't hear about: drawing on the wall, screaming "it's not fair," and sticking things in the nose.

I don't recall my own kids ever doing that.

Doesn't every parent have the moment when they walk into the room with the kids, look around, and think "we're going to have to move."
