IF this idea is as workable as the the developers claim, it could basically obsolete everything Detroit has in the works for the next decade.

That has been in the news since some time already - see e,g, here FoxNews from August 31, 2007. Will be great when (and if) it really works.

This is a medium to long term solution and we'll still need oil for any number of purposes including aircraft (unless you want to go back to prop-driven planes). It also hinges a bit on whether the developers are bright enough to simply put motors in the wheels like Volvo has on its concept car and like every sort of very heavy truck does rather than screw around with transmissions and differentials etc.

But the potential would be for every little store to have its own plug-in/charge-up facilities and THAT would in fact kill the oil companies or at least most of them. It would sure as hell kill OPEC.

We still need the idea of the neighborhood worksite and to eliminate most of the commuting.

Because of Bushies recent climate change statement increased co2 emissions will be allowed up to 2020.

So theres no real point.

Ah... there are a lot more advantages to electric vehicles than carbon emissions.

Performance, for one.

I'm looking forward to my first all-electric car.

Nice avatar Walter...quite jealous. Smile

Talking of motor cars, some vintage stuff may be passing near you in the States soon.

On board is my friend Jenny.

As you know approx 1/3 of all mankind, could you let the world know and give them a big cheer on their way from Panama to Alaska...thanks S.
