I bet Lieberman was the kind of kid who would eat worms if he thought it would get other kids to like him.

He's just a hopeless hypocrite who hasn't figured out that the Democrats hate him and that the Republicans laugh at him behind his back. Both sides would probably like to give him a wedgy.

Hillary may be accepting the VP nod at the same convention. Small world.

Republicans close to the McCain campaign say Lieberman's appearance at the convention, possibly before a national primetime audience, could help make the case that the presumptive GOP nominee has a record of crossing the aisle. That could appeal to much-needed independent voters.

They wish! Intelligent people clearly understand the difference between crossing the aisle and slithering across the aisle.

I think he'll help about as much as Zell Miller helped. Which is to say, not at all.

it's not that Lieberman is fellating McCain in public...that's his business... it's that he promised the people who voted him in that he'd continue to function as a democrat. lying sack of ****.

Ummm.. What he promised was to caucus with the Democrats. He made no promises on what he'd do outside of the Senate building.

The "people who voted for him" were mostly Republicans. He got 70% of the Republican vote in CT and ~30% of the Democrat's votes. Both Clinton and Obama publicly supported Ned Lamont (who lost) in that race. Not surprising that Lieberman wouldn't support either of them in their race.

Obama supported Lieberman over Lamont in the primary, though; then when Lamont won the Democratic primary, Lieberman switched to Independent to run against Lamont. Makes sense that the Dems would support Dems.

(Obama's support for Lieberman was tempered, though. Even while endorsing him he got in some digs about Iraq etc.)

(Good observation, Green Witch.)

Lieberman's loyalty is really to neither party. Outside of one issue, his voting record and history looks centrist to left (the modern version of that, of course).

His fundamental loyalty is to Israel and he looks to have pretty much bought the hawk/militarist set of ideas associated with Likud/Kadima. As the Bush administration is so oriented as well, his behavior is entirely predictable.

A similar case...

Keyes announced Tuesday night that he was officially leaving the Republican Party, which was relieved to hear it.

I have no idea about this guy who dance according to the tune of war-mongers.
He is unfit or misfit to draw attention of the innocent citizens.
