who were driven to undercut the wages formerly paid for the industrial jobs

still , this is confusing.

let me rephrase it in other way

urban blacks was doing industrial work

their (urban blacks)salary has been reduced now due to influx of rural workers .

AM I RIGHT ?

please note it says
"After the boll weevil infestation , urban black workers faced competition from the continuing influx of both black and white rural workers , who were driven to undercut the wages formerly paid for the industrial jobs"

who means ? urban black worker or influx of rural worker ?

whose salary is getting reduced ? is it the urban workers or influx rural workers ?

urban workers have their salary reduced.

I have rephrased the parragraph to assist with clarity (i hope)

After the boll weevil infestation, urban black workers faced competition from the continuing influx of both black and white rural workers. The rural workers were forced to undercut the wages paid to the urban workers in order to get jobs.
