Walter, if you got something to say, please just do it.

You are really starting to annoy me, and I'm half flippin' German...

Damn

Half flippin'? Is that anything like a belly flop in the swimming pool?

Damn is right.

"no one was addressing you"? "came riding in with an unnecessary sarcastic remark"? See, dimwitted hysterical man, that's exactly what I mean by "lost all perspective".

You're overlooking some easy, common knowledge things that I'll be glad to point out to your confused ass. This is an open forum for political subjects, of which the Obama campaign is my favorite. No one needs to "address" me for me to feel free to come "riding", stomping, tippy-toeing or any damn other way I wanna come into a thread.

By the by, you don't get to decide what's "necessary" or unnecessary in a thread of any kind, and for you of all bloviated self-pitying bigmouths to be pointing at "righteous indignation" is too hypocritical to even comment on.

Real life, I haven't been that naive in almost 45 years, but the Obama campaign hasn't reflected the kind of PR spin that is so pathetically common for both Republicans and Democrats.

Please.

What was 'Present' Obama's response to the Jeremiah Wright fiasco?

Nothing but spin.

'He's my close friend, mentor , advisor and pastor of over 20 years.'

'I was not aware of his remarks.'

'If I had been aware of his remarks, still I would not have left the church.'

'If I had been aware of his remarks, I would have left.'

'I was aware of his remarks, but he was going to retire anyway , so I stayed.'

'He's retired now, so it doesn't matter if I should have left.'

'I don't think my church is particularly controversial.'

'As the campaign gets under way, I may have to distance myself from him.'

And this is where we must agree to disagree. It was that speech that was responsible for making up my mind that Obama was the man to be the next president. It was honest without whining about being too tired to know what he was saying. It was because of that very speech that I sent in a good chunk of change to support his campaign.

Haven't there been times in your life when a loved one has said something you find abhorent? You still love that person, especially if it is a relative. Love/hate relationships are more common than most would believe, in my opinion. That is what Obama was referring to. Never in his career has he made that kind of radical statement that divideds people rather than bring them together.

Was some of it spin? Perhaps. (Please don't list every word you would consider spin). He was put on a spot few of us will ever experience. He was trying to be fair to his minister in an honorable way while saying in public why he disagreed with the minister's statements.

What he said was full of honesty and integrity. It was a beautiful thing to see.

I should have added that not only was it a beautiful thing to see, it was also something I hadn't seen for so long in a political arena that I didn't realize at first that this man was saying what was in his heart.

In this cynical world, that speech was rare and inspiring.

No, I did not lock this topic because of what Diane wrote.

Sheesh, people, get a grip.

It's an election year. There are going to be disagreements. We on the Mod team are well aware of it, even if you're not so well aware of the fact that we have our own lives and really don't need this kinda extra crap on the boards.

Yes, I'm not supposed to get involved. Yes, I'm supposed to just lock and quietly split. Yes, yes, yes I am well aware of how to moderate this site, thank you very much.

But I am sick of this useless sniping. And while I realize that it will not go away, that there will be yet more and more juvenalia on these boards until the election, until the inauguration, until the sun is blotted out, until the rapture, until the stars all go out, until God gets really pissed at us or whatever, I do ask that folks at least make a small effort to not be this way.

Thank you and have a good day without this topic.
