Hi...a (perhaps semi-) true story: when I was in basic training with the Army @ Ft Dix, NJ in late fall of 1968, we were "encouraged" to donate blood.
I had given throughout college so it was no big deal for me, an O+ guy. One of my roommates, who had never given before, turned out to be AB-.
He disappeared the next day.
Most of us went to Vietnam. Rumor had it that he spent his time stateside, donating blood and teaching officers' wives how to play tennis. -rjb-
