IS IT ODD ? WHICH IS WORSE ?

I never liked either Rudy Giuliani nor Eliot Spitzer.

I am a BIG supporter of freedom, and I never found
either of them to share that point of vu.
Neither was a friend of liberty;
both were friends of gun control.

My gut feeling was that neither one of them was
in a good state of mental health, tho both of them
were obviously very functional in society.
I cannot point to any error, in particular,
that either of them did in pursuance of his duties in office.

Having said that,
I wonder Y thay were regarded so differently.

It appears that Giuliani was a wife beater ( Donna Hanover )
and the other one merely responded to the call of nature
that is hardwired into the male population, as a whole.
HIS career crashed and burned ABRUPTLY,
whereas the other 's just slowly died in the primary elections,
from a very understandable lack of interest.

Y the difference ?

Is patronizing ladies of the evening so much WORSE
than wife beating ? Is it so much more HARMFUL than wife beating ?

not in MY opinion

WhatayaTHINK ?

That's rich, coming from you!

Using $1000 prostitutes is not more harmful than wife beating, but it's still pretty bad. I expect you have to use prostitutes because of reasons to do with your personality and possibly your appearance and maybe, I'm guessing here, your weight, Laughing but most people actually think it's wrong and a form of unfaithfulness.

Your objection is that he was remiss in failing to
grant his financial support to cheaper courtesans ?

that he shud have aided sexual workers of the lower socio-economic classes ?

Your choice of words suggests an inexorable need; (he HAS a wife).
Can we allow for the possibilty that he did it out of optional, discretionary delight ?
comparable to a nite at the opera, after dinner at a fine restaurant ?
i.e., u CAN do it, but u don 't "have to" do it

[ perhaps I shud have said MANY nites at the opera, etc. ]

ME ?
Well, I 've never liked my own appearance,
but that wud be another thread,
and I have never been mayor nor governor.

U mean that it 'd have been OK,
or LESS scandalous, if Spitzer had a girlfriend,
an affair, instead of employing independent contractors ?

[Incidentally, I am mildly surprized that our local happenings
seem to have found their way to Europe.]

Why? We have these things called "newspapers", and they have all kinds of stuff in them. There is a column in the one I read called "Those Whacko Americans". It is always full of amusing stories.

Ah, that makes me laugh!

From what I can read in many instances in the Marriage and Relationships threads, it's precisely one of the reasons why men have surrogate spouses (ok, prostitutes)...

It surprizes me that thay deem our local NY events to be newsworthy,
all the way over there.

I doubt that I 'd have heard about it
if the leader of some French province
( by whatever title he may be known )
had done the same thing.

Neither did we.

It's far from having the same importance here as Americans attach to it.

Other than New Yorkers
( for whom it has political significance )
I don 't believe that Americans attach much importance to it.
