Hello, George,
I am seeking the Latin translation for "mistress" as in Mistress of the Sea.
Could you assist me in understanding the difference between domina, era and regina for use in this context?
Also, would the translation of my screen name - AzureOcean - be Caeruleus Oceanus?
Thank you so much for your time and assistance. You truly are a gentleman and a scholar.
domina -- mistress in the sense of mistress of a household; also used in
the romantic sense; also used to mean "lady" or a member of a royal family
era -- also means head of a household, but especially in regard to an
owner of slaves
regina -- usually means "queen"
Generally, the adjective would follow, so Oceanus Caeruleus
Thank you so much for your explanation.
George,
What would be the most accurate translation be for Mistress of the Sea?
Am I correct then that Oceanus Caeruleus would/could translate as Azure Ocean?
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Christine
