@RABEL222,
This is worth repeating, because it seems to have been buried in the Romney's tax return bruhaha. It was first published last month, but worth repeating for all to read and understand - even conservatives.

Quote:

“Voucher” is a fighting word in education, so it may be understandable that when Mitt Romney speaks about improving the nation’s schools, he never uses that term.

Campaign Stops: Romney’s School Surprise (May 29, 2012)

Larry Downing/Reuters

"Funding schools based on local property taxes is just a way to keep the rich rich and the poor poor."

Nonetheless, as president, Mr. Romney would seek to overhaul the federal government’s largest programs for kindergarten through 12th grade into a voucherlike system. Students would be free to use $25 billion in federal money to attend any school they choose — public, charter, online or private — a system, he said, that would introduce marketplace dynamics into education to drive academic gains.

Willard's refusal to graciously submit his tax returns shows some things about his character that make him unfit to be president.

1.) It brings back memories of Animal Farm. All candidates are equal except for willard who regards himself as above everyone else.

2.) Keeping confidences is a good trait. This shows that willard is sneaky and therefore not to be trusted.

3.) It also demonstrates that he is not a team player and may not weather a crisis well.

@plainoldme,
It is good to hear from you plainoldme. You always seem to have something to say that should be seriously considered.

@reasoning logic,
This is what's still happening in Iraq; the country where GW Bush brought democracy to their country after we sacrificed our military and treasure.

Article: Market bombs kill five and wound 14 near Baghdad: sources
4 hrs ago
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Car bombs in two towns south of Baghdad and in the Iraqi city of Najaf killed a total of 20 people on Sunday and wounded 80, police and hospital sources said, in one of the most violent days of the past two weeks.
Three car bombs killed 11 people and wounded 38 in Mahmudiya, a town 30 km (20 miles) south of Baghdad, according to police.
The first detonated in a car in a parking lot, the second in another car as police arrived at the scene and a third at the town's police station, the police sources said.
In Madaen, a town 30 km (20 miles) southeast of the Iraqi capital, two bombs killed five people and wounded 14 in a crowded market, police and hospital sources said.
And car bombs planted in a busy trading street in Najaf, 160 km (100 miles) south of Baghdad, killed four people and wounded 28, Interior Ministry sources said.

What Obama failed to learn was that the extension of the war in Afghanistan will only result in more American sacrifice for a cause that is beyond the control of outsiders. Once he killed bin Laden, he needed to leave that country.

We're going to end up paying for their infrastructure while our country goes to pot.

I agree! I may be too caring myself and think that bin Laden and others like him should have been put away from society if they could not be shown a better way. Not that everyone can be rehabilitated and probably most of them can not but I still see them as human beings even though I think they may have irresolvable mental issues.

That's interesting. Perhaps even the NRA is afraid of controversy.

@reasoning logic,
Have you been reading about the tribal wars still going on in Iraq?

Why did we sacrifice our military and treasure in Iraq for this lost cause for longer than WWII? This war was started on the basis that Sadaam had WMD's.

Spending our treasure in Iraq and Afghanistan have exacerbated our worsening economy; our schools and infrastructure is in bad repair, because we spent our treasure on two stupid, unnecessary wars.

I have been hearing a little about what has been going on over there. I could only imagine that we would have serious problems ourselves if someone came over here and did that to us.
We would all be fighting for power and blaming different groups of people for different problems, "it would be complete chaos. Kinda like it is now but with a lot more violence.

Disgraced and under investigation, FL Republican admits party attempted to disenfranchise Blacks. Who is it here who keeps asking why more Black people do not vote republican and do not espouse conservative values?

@plainoldme,
I know, POM. It boggles the mind...

Here's an excellent article about how the media is being willfully ignorant about the GOP voter suppression...

"...Does any journalist who is not an overt shill for the right actually believe that Republicans are pushing voter ID laws because they’re concerned about voter fraud?

No, of course not. ..."

@reasoning logic,
I did a factcheck on Obama's claim, and one thing is true; those in the high income brackets would benefit the most. That's not to say low income people will "pay more." They will also benefit, but the percentages are much smaller.

From the You-Can't-Make-This-Stuff-Up Department: A pickup truck parked next to my car in a Lenox, MA lot. On a pole protruding from its deck was a very large rebel flag. My first thought was: Oh, Did the South win the World Cup? Then I realized that this is not a World Cup year.

I waited a bit to see if the driver would emerge and she did. 5'6" or so, weighing between 300 and 350, dressed in shorts and a hot pink tee, she carried a child who was about 3. She was one of those women who are forced to walk with their toes completely rotated to the side because of the size of her middle.
