Read it on the plane, likely story - he'll be looking out at the skies, such as they are, thinking something through..

have a happy birthday, Lola. You are younger than I by about six months. Johnboy landed on A2K and met Lola. There was some sort of communal story-telling thread going (that died out but johnboy keeps telling stories) and I remember the admonition from Lola on page one: write in the present tense. I have never figured out why that is important to her, but I try to remember that rule.

I'm so much more than a pair of legs, Spendi...but the symbolism works, or at least it works most of the time. Have a nice trip.......in which direction are you flying? Not crossing the pond are you?

george.........you didn't miss my birthday....not only am I forever young, but my birthday never stops. But stay out of my attic. No one is allowed up there. I'm eager for the new thread.

RJB, I remember the writing thread. It was styled after the original cafe. When I started the cafe on Abuzz, I originally intended it to be a place (a thread) where people could leave messages........I was afraid to tell anyone my real name or my email address.......that didn't last long, but it's the way it was in the beginning. Then this guy named Kino showed up with his brilliant writing and funny, always-working wit and, from the beginning turned the thread into an ongoing story. I'll post the first thread maybe.......anyway the story was fun, but demanding of time. Kino disappeared after the third incantation/psalm..........and was never heard from again. But the thread lived for a long time.

If I could control myself and take on only those things I have enough time to do, I'd be more loyal and consistent. But I don't do too badly for a girl with legs.......Thanks all for your birthday wishes.

I'll stay in touch better after next week. I have to travel on some business........but I will check in because I just remembered how much I miss you all.

A use of 'turning' here with which I am unfamiliar. Maggie wasn't great. It lasted about 23 seconds. There was no hugging. Then she washed up in the men's room and was gone from my life.

One of Mother Hen's most famous remarks was "The Lady's not for turning."They were trying to get her to change direction on something or other of the utmost futility.

Is it really worth it for 23 seconds followed by that feeling of self disgust and shame which inevitably follows the moment of glory as Dylan called it.

How's the tousle-haired pocket battleship today?

Yes, I had forgotten that 'turning' phrase so turned.

No, it wasn't worth the shame and self disgust. First time that's happened.

She tosses on the waves.

In the interests of fairness I ought to add that the phrase "feeling of self-disgust and shame" came from an article in a national magazine which was describing the briefness of what is known as post-coital euphoria.

If it has never happened before you must be a beginner. It has happened to me on numerous occasions.Very numerous in fact.

Lola,

I will be stopping by with a group of scientist- and lawyer-type people to celebrate the decision in the Dover school board case. Spendius will pay for everything (since he lost our wager on the case).

Lola! I haven't seen you in what seems like a million years. How've you been, m'dear?

I survived, but just barely. Ugh. Trying desperately to restore some normalcy today. Stopped in here in hopes of spending some time with a bunch of folks I'm not related to. Thought it would be a good start.

Hi Lola-

Happy new year.

Who's doing the dusting?

Not that I'm bothered mind you.I quite like dust.

When wande gets in with his bunch of mates I'll be able to get some of my questions answered.

Are you staying this time?
