I made a big mistake in my life: between the 60's and early 80's I used all the tokens you get at birth for beer and other drinks, so I'll have to be sober since more than 20 years now

(Okay, okay, the story is bit different. Laughing )

There's plenty more tokens available, Walter. You pay for them with gray matter, but what were we going to do with all that brain capacity anyway?

For me a well-exposed & aged Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cab., a Cohiba Robusto, some quiet contemplation, and a bit of conversation - peace, lyric thoughts ......

THEY are not long, the weeping and the laughter,
Love and desire and hate:
I think they have no portion in us after
We pass the gate.

They are not long, the days of wine and roses:
Out of a misty dream
Our path emerges for a while, then closes
Within a dream.

She walks in Beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

Beautiful, dys.

Think I'll just snuggle up next to the fire here with you and all the rest. It is cold out there tonight.

Wassau, I'll have some brandy, if you don't mind...

Well Eva, I have some more of this good Cabernet, And with a little coaxing, ... I'll let you fool with my cigar.

And the night shall be filled with music
And the cares, that infest the day,
Shall fold their tents, like the Arabs,
And as silently steal away

Preliminary announcement of a challenge - offered, and accepted on another thread.

HofT wrote:

G OB - this is Timber's anniversary thread for the USMC, so you wanna fight, I'll meet you at Lola's Salon to arrange (1) rules of engagement to apply in fight and (2) your terms of surrender pursuant to said fight (might as well plan ahead).

State a date and time, I'll be there - you're wrong, btw, on both CNO name AND reactor numbers. As to your anatomy I neither know nor care - unless you can show cause why I should <G>

Damn !

Well, as my little brother the lawyer says, "to get a voir, dire, you gotta show cause".

ROE -- Marquis of Queensury Rules, -- no surrender.

{{{Gotta think about this one though. She's smart. Knows some stuff too. However, foolishly confident on the reactors in Enterprise bit -- plenty of clues there for her to back off or qualify -- missed them all. Still I have elsewhere seen in her flashes of stuff I don't know. Could be tough. What the hell ! Just a girl. Play to her feminine pride and complacency. Sooner or later she'll screw up, and I've got her. }}}

OK babe, 12:00 Noon EST, Sunday Nov 28, Lola's Cafe.

(I'm off tomorrow for the delights oif Chicago & environs, may not take the machine. - If I do I'll appear sooner, here & at Lola's - just to give you some satisfaction.)

Ok, a fight it will be and fun to observetoo. Can't wait. I think I'll sell tickets Laughing

However, the fight will have to take place in the cigar-smoke filled library. (I'll set that thread up when I return from the gym. We had one on Abuzz, but I'll have to re-open one here.)

We have a rule..........no fighting in the cafe, back yard or tree house. Physical fighting has to go outside and political discussion in the library.........please. Smile Thank you, Wassau

Thanks, Lola, but setting up a new thread isn't necessary: Timber has already offered a venue, courtesy of the USMC.

Damn, she's here too! And Lola is making rules. I hate rules, particularly house rules made by women.! (You can get away with murder, but it's the little rules that oppress.)

Who the hell is "Wassau: ?

Not much prospect of moral support here. If this is a set up, we'll just duke it out --

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbow'd.

A great Thanksgiving weekend to all

Happy Thanksgiving to all here at the Cafe. We will be in Denver without access and won't be able to visit again until the weekend. Hopefully, we can drop in a few times more today.

Diane and Dys.

Well.......there's only that one rule, georgeob.....And it's Wassau's, not mine.

I'll set up the thread anyway and link it with the cafe. I've always had the political discussion room in case we wanted to talk politics or get violent. I also used to have a game room where we played Balderdash.......but I got tired of losing at Balderdash......

Wassau, for georgeob and other new cafe denizens is the cafe proprietor. That is he owns and runs the place. (Sal is his brother.) He's an old friend of mine, from my sweet college hippie days. He inherited the cafe from his father who owned the place in the 60s and 70s when Dylan and others stopped by to play chess and hang out. (The cafe is located at the corner of Bleecker and MacDougall Streets in Greenwich Village.) Sometimes Dylan would sing a bit, but mostly it was late, late night stuff, after the performances at the Top of the Gate and other venues.

Wassau's Dad, Pierre was a good man.

I'm only a long time guest at the cafe. Wassau is the dude.

And yes, Kicky a foot massage would be lovely. It's overcast again today and just a little bit cold.......not too bad. I have come by to relax before I go back home to do a little more work.......I'll be back later.

Eva looks like she'd like her feet massaged too. She looks exhausted, if mellow after playing with georgeob's cigar.

Beautiful poetry from Dys and georgeob........sing to us some more please.

Well yes, I would like my feet massaged!

(I'm not much for rules either, georgeob. Especially not here.)

I'll be here for Thanksgiving. Wassau assures me he's fixing a huge turkey with all the trimmings, just for those of us who want to stop in. He has fresh cranberries and several fine wines he recommends. As usual, he has thought of everything.
